\nImo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, escaped death today as he was
\nattacked at in Ohaji\/Egbema local government area of the state.<\/p>\n

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the governor was on his way to
\nattend an official function in the area when the youths from Mmahu , the
\ncouncil headquarters, attacked his convoy with stones and bottles,
\nshattering the windscreens of his bulletproof Sports Utility Vehicle
\n(SUV).<\/p>\n

On sighting the governor, the youths were said to have started chanting,
\n\u2018onye oshi vote\u2019, onye oshi vote\u2019, meaning \u2018vote thief\u2019,
\n\u2018vote thief\u2019.<\/p>\n

The throwing of the stones and bottles flew from all corners as it
\nappeared the youths got hint of the governor\u2019s coming and laid in wait
\nfor him.<\/p>\n

However, Uzodinma was prevented from alighting from the vehicle by
\nsecurity operatives who whisked him from the scene.<\/p>\n

As at the time of filing this report, there has been no statement from
\nany of the Imo government officials. Efforts to contact his Chief Press
\nSecretary, Mr. Oguike Nwachukwu, was unsuccessful.<\/p><\/div>\n
