Crisis is looming in the Ikwuano local government area chapter of the
\nPeople’s Democratic Party(PDP), as the party’s National Organizing
\nSecretary ,Col. Austin Akobundu, (rtd) insists on imposing his
\ncandidates as PDP executives.<\/p>\n

Some stakeholders of the party in the area lamented that Akobundu is
\ninsisting on having his way, despite the rotation agreement that exists
\namong different sections of the local government. The stakeholders are
\nsaid to have met and vowed to give him a fierce battle, or the party
\nexplodes.<\/p>\n

They threatened to work against the PDP in the 2023 general elections,
\nif Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the state caucus of the PDP fail to call
\nAkobundu to order.<\/p>\n

Pointblanknews.com gathered that the Abia PDP had during its caucus
\nmeeting on March 1, 2020, adopted zoning and rotation of political
\noffices across the state.<\/p>\n

Major stakeholders of Abia PDP present at the meeting including Akobundu
\nsupported the resolution and never raised any objection.<\/p>\n

However, Akobundu has now rejected the decision of the party caucus and
\ninsists on returning the sitting PDP chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Obioma
\nIgwe, as against the party’s rotational policy which allows all the
\nexecutive positions to be rotated.<\/p>\n

The Ikwuano LGA PDP chairman, Mr. Obioma Igwe hails from the Southern
\npart of the LGA while the Northern part should produce his successor.
\nHowever, Akobundu insists on retaining the current leadership structure
\nwhich favours his preferred candidate who is the sitting chairman of the
\nparty
\n.
\nIt was gathered that other stakeholders of the party in the council such
\nas the member representing Umuahia North\/Umuahia South and Ikwuano
\nfederal constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo; Commissioner for Housing, Abia
\nstate, Hon. Theophilus Ugboaja and other top shots of the party have
\nwarned\u00a0 Akobundu on the dangers of imposing\u00a0 the leadership of the
\nparty. They cited the incident of 2015 House of Assembly poll in Ikwuano
\nLGA where Akobundu imposed his then Personal Assistant, as the candidate
\nof the PDP and the people protested and voted for the APGA candidate.<\/p>\n

Most of the stakeholders have vowed to resist Akobundu’s attempt at
\nhijacking the party’s leadership for selfish reasons.<\/p>\n

Sources told\u00a0pointblanknews.com<\/a>\u00a0that Akobundu’s insistence on imposing
\nthe entire leadership structure of the party is to enable him install
\nhis in-law as the LGA chairman in the forthcoming council polls in the
\nstate.<\/p>\n

Akobundu also confided in some of his loyalists that he has his eyes on
\nthe Abia Central Senate seat\u00a0 in 2023 general election. This is also
\ncontrary to the rotation agreement between the Umuahia\/Ikwuano bloc and
\nthe Ngwa bloc which make up Abia Central zone. In 2023, it will be the
\nturn of the Ngwa bloc to produce the next senator after Senator Theodore
\nOrji.<\/p>\n

They lamented that Akobundu in the same manner, imposed his nephew, Hon.
\nStanley Nwabuisi , as the representative of Ikwuano\u00a0 state constituency
\nin the House of Assembly.<\/p>\n

Some of the Ikwuano PDP stakeholders who preferred anonymity, said, ”
\nCol. Akobundu is never satisfied, he wants all the party positions to be
\noccupied by his stooges. Against the rotation policy of the party where
\nis a leader, Akobundu insists the sitting PDP LGA chairman\u00a0 and other
\nexcos must be retained.\u00a0 It is all in efforts to install his stooges as
\nparty executives. He wants to install his in-law as LGA chairman in the
\nnext local government election. He imposed his nephew , Stanley
\nNwabuisis, as House of Assembly member. He wants to go the senate in
\n2023. He has been minister\u00a0 \u00a0and now, National Organizing Secretary. We
\nhave sacrificed a lot for Akobundu, this time, he will not succeed. We
\nare ready for him. If Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and other party leaders
\nfail to call him to order, we will shock PDP in 2023, we did it in 2015
