Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has berated the Imo State<\/div>\n

Governor,\u00a0 Senator Hope Uzodinma for alleging that the PDP is
\nresponsible for the attempted removal of National Chairman of the All
\nProgressives Congress ( APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, saying that the
\nallegation is baseless and untrue.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike also\u00a0 declared that the APC is out to destroy the
\nJudiciary. He urged the Judiciary to protect itself from the destructive
\ntendencies of the APC.<\/p>\n

In an interview at the Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday,
\nGovernor Wike said the comments credited to Senator Hope Uzodinma are
\nunfortunate.<\/p>\n

He said: “I read that Senator Hope Uzodinma said that the PDP conspired
\nto plot the attempted removal of APC National Chairman.\u00a0 That is an
\nunfortunate lie.<\/p>\n

“It is unfortunate that Senator Hope Uzodinma will have the temerity to
\nmake that false allegation. Hope Uzodinma was an APC agent while he was
\nin PDP. That was why APC used him as an agent to support Ali Modu
\nSheriff,\u00a0 but they failed.<\/p>\n

“It is unfortunate that people of questionable character are in
\nGovernment.\u00a0 Hope Uzodinma cannot talk about the attempted removal of
\nAPC National Chairman and mention the PDP. What is our business in the
\nattempted removal of Oshiomhole? ”<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said that the APC is not a political party that means well
\nfor the country.<\/p>\n

“APC does not mean well for Nigeria.\u00a0 It is a party of strange
\nbedfellows merely formed to take over power.<\/p>\n

“If Senator Uzodinma dares to make such false comments again about the
\nPDP , we will tell the world about him.<\/p>\n

“That he fraudulently took the mandate\u00a0 of PDP does not mean that PDP is
\nweak. Hope Uzodinma lacks the capacity to discuss the PDP.”<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said that Nigerians must be vigilant and work towards
\nprotecting the Judiciary.<\/p>\n

“We must protect the Judiciary to do its work.\u00a0 But the Judiciary should
\nprotect itself.\u00a0 APC has destroyed the Judiciary,” he said.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike wondered why the Judiciary should allow leaders of the APC
\nto toss it around as has been witnessed during the party’s internal
\ncrisis.<\/p>\n

He decried the situation where the Court of Appeal granted a stay of
\nexecution on the suspension of the APC National Chairman,\u00a0 but the FCT
\nHigh Court went ahead to declare another person the Acting National
\nChairman. He said only the National Executive Committee of political
\nparties have such powers.<\/p>\n

He said: “The Judiciary should be very careful.\u00a0 The Judiciary should be
\nalert. It should not allow itself to be used. It should not allow itself
\nto be destroyed.<\/p>\n

“APC should not be allowed to destroy the Judiciary.\u00a0 Judiciary was
\nthere before APC.\u00a0 It was there before any political party.\u00a0 I cannot
\nsee the Judiciary being destroyed and keep quiet.<\/p>\n

“I am not interested in what happens in the APC. But I am concerned with
\nthe Judiciary and its survival. ”<\/p>\n

He urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria to caution judges.<\/p>\n

“With what the APC is doing today, we may not have the Judiciary and
\neveryone will pay the price. The party is trying to destroy the hope of
\nthe common man,” he said.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike regretted that the APC and her supporters attack the
\nJudiciary when judgment is not in their favour.\u00a0 He pointed out the
\nattacks on Justice Mary Odili in the Bayelsa State Governorship matter.
\nThe Governor said that the recent order by the wife of the member of a
\nHouse of Representatives wherein she reaffirmed the freedom of the
\nFormer Emir of Kano,\u00a0 was hailed, even though she was the wife of a PDP
\nmember.<\/p>\n

He said that the APC is an association that was only concerned about the
\nremoval of Former President Goodluck Jonathan.\u00a0 He said that having
\nremoved Jonathan,\u00a0 APC has been unable to use power to the advantage of
\nNigerians.<\/p>\n

The Governor wondered how a national official of the APC who resigned to
\ncontest the Deputy Governorship position in Rivers State,\u00a0 would still
\ngo to court to seek to be Acting National Chairman.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike agreed with the Former Governor of Lagos State that the
\nstruggle in the APC is about 2023.<\/p>\n

“I agree with the Former Lagos State Governor,\u00a0 Senator Bola Tinubu that
\nthe crisis in APC is about 2023. Everyone wants to be President or Vice
\nPresident.\u00a0 This virus is indeed worse than coronavirus,” he said.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
