The Lagos State government has agreed to withdraw charges against former
\ngovernorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Lagos
\nState, Babatunde Gbadamosi, his wife Folasade, and popular singer Naira
\nMarley.<\/p>\n
This is as the defendants accepted to tender written apologies to the
\nLagos State Government, as well as to issue undertakings to comply with
\nthe directive on lockdown and social distancing, including a stay in
\nisolation for the next 14 days.<\/p>\n
The state government agreed to withdraw the charge against the three
\ndefendants based on the remorse they showed, however, this is still
\nsubsequent upon their fulfilling three conditions.<\/p>\n
They were therefore not arraigned before the Magistrate Court sitting in
\nOgba today, April 8.<\/p>\n
The conditions for which their charge was dropped include:<\/p>\n
1) They have to write a formal apology to the Government of Lagos State
\nwhich will solidify the remorsefulness shown by them.<\/p>\n
(2) They have to give an undertaking in writing that they will continue
\nto comply with the directives of Mr President and Mr Governor which is
\nthe subject matter of the case before the court.<\/p>\n
(3) In view of the danger which the state believes they\u2019ve put
\nthemselves by attending a gathering exceeding 20 persons, they must
\nagree to go on 14 days isolation to protect other members of the public
\nfrom any likely danger.<\/p>\n
The defendants through their counsel all agreed to the conditions and
\nthe court has adjourned till tomorrow for the prosecutor to brief the
\ncourt on whether all the conditions have been met failing which they
\nwill be arraigned.
\nGbadamosi and Naira Marley had earlier on Monday turned themselves in to
\nthe police after flouting the state government\u2019s restriction order on
\nsocial distancing.<\/p>\n
This was after they attended a party organised by Nollywood actress,
\nFunke Akindele Bello in celebration of her husband\u2019s birthday,
\nAbdulrasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz.<\/p>\n
The couple were arraigned on Monday and sentenced to one week of
\ncommunity service and asked to pay a fine of N100,000 each.<\/p>\n
