\nOn Friday, April 10, 2020, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc (Julius Berger)
\ndonated an ambulance vehicle to the Univeristy of Abuja Teaching
\nHospital, Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n

The donation was made in response to the rise in recorded cases of
\nCovid-19 in Nigeria, and is part of a larger campaign, with
\ncontributions being rolled-out to ramp up hospitals\u2019 capacities. The
\nambulance serves as a key resource to help the movement of patients to
\nand from the Univeristy Hospital, which is the nominated testing,
\nisolation and treatment center of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control
\n(NCDC).<\/p>\n

The donation was attended by Julius Berger\u2019s Managing Director, Dr. Lars
\nRichter, who handed over the vehicle to the hospital\u2019s Chief Medical
\nDirector, Prof. Bissallah A. Ekele. Dr. Richter stated that the urgent
\nnecessity to safeguard and protect the good health and lives of the
\ncitizens and residents of Nigeria informed the decision of the company
\nto donate the ambulance to the hospital. In the words of Dr Richter,
\n\u201c\u2026We are that the good health and safety of the lives of the Nigerians
\nand residents matter and must be proactively helped and preserved. In
\nall situations and at all times, Julius Berger places the highest
\npremium on the value of environmental and human safety and the need to
\nactively protect same.\u201d Richter added that Julius Berger would continue
\nto do all within its means to support the government\u2019s effort to
\novercome the covid-19 threat to the safety of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

In response to the good corporate social responsibility initiative by
\nJulius Berger Nigeria Plc as well as to Engr Dr Richter\u2019s remarks at the
\nevent in Gwagwalada, the Chief Medical Director of the University of
\nAbuja Teaching Hospital, Professor Bissalah A. Ekele, thanked the
\ncompany for its timely intervention with the donation of the ambulance
\nwhich he said was critically needed in the current fight against the
\ncorona virus pandemic. According to Professor Ekele, the utility of the
\nambulance would go even beyond the fight against the covid-19 pandemic
\nwhich he prayed would end soon. He said \u201c…on behalf of the Minister of
\nHealth, I want to say a big thank you to Julius Berger for this show of
\ngoodwill without the hospital even writing to you to request for it. It
\nshows your sensitivity to the urgent and critical need of the Nigerian
\nsociety and its people, particularly at a time like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Julius Berger pledged to continue to respond with direct action to
\nsupport Federal and State Governments, as well as key public agencies
\nand healthcare providers in their fight to curb the spread of the
\nCovid-19 pandemic and will continue to provide impactful contributions.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
