\nAlimikhena has\u00a0 distributed foodstuff to different households in the
\nzone.<\/p>\n

Senator Alimikhena has also distributed Agricultural and farming
\nequipment like Farm Chemicals, Farm water Pumping machines, hand Sprayer
\nand other items against the backdrop that after COVID-19 pandemic,
\npeople must feed.<\/p>\n

This is part of efforts to cushion the effect of the stay-at-home order
\nby the Federal and state governments following the outbreak of the
\nCoronavirus,\u00a0 COVID-19 that is at the moment, ravaging the world.<\/p>\n

Senator Alimikhena who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Customs,
\nExcise and Tariff, while delivering the food items, which include
\nthousands of bags of rice, and undisclosed amount of money, explained
\nthat the gesture was in fulfillment of part of his campaign promises to
\nsee to the needs of members of his\u00a0 senatorial zone at all times.<\/p>\n

Senator Alimikhena who Spoke from\u00a0 his Igiode Resident, Agenebode in
\nEtsako East, Edo North said that the food items worth millions of naira
\nare for the Entire Vulnerable people of Edo North irrespective of their
\npolitical party or religion.<\/p>\n

According to the former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, the gesture is
\nalso aimed at complimenting the efforts of the State Governor, Godwin
\nObaseki\u00a0 in assisting citizens of the state to overcome the hardship and
\nhunger the stay-at-home might cause.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 items distributed\u00a0 include: Rice, Beans, Salt, Oil,\u00a0 and post Covid
\n19 farming equipments to get farmers back to their farms like Farm
\nChemicals, Farm Water pumping Equipment, hand Sprayer and\u00a0 others was
\nshared evenly among all the 64 wards in every village, community and
\ntowns across the six local government areas of Edo North.<\/p>\n

The Six Local governments making up Edo North Senatorial District are
\nAkoko- Edo; Etsako Central; Etsako East; Etsako West; Owan East and Owan
\nWest.<\/p>\n

Senator Alimikhena said,\u00a0 ” There should be no discrimination in the
\nsharing process because we are not here to play politics,\u00a0 but to show
\nlove and concern for the people of Edo North irrespective of their
\npolitical party. The food items are not for politics, but for Vulnerable
\npeople of Edo North.”<\/p>\n

The Senator urged the people of Edo State and\u00a0 Edo North in particular
\nto stay safe as Covid 19 Pandemic is near its peak.<\/p>\n

He appealled to the people to abide by the directives as issued by the
\nGovernment\u00a0 and the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC)\u00a0 by
\nobserving physical social\u00a0 distancing during conversation with others
\nand constant washing of hands with soap on a running water.<\/p>\n

Senator Alimikhena further appealed to various\u00a0 community leaders in Edo
\nNorth to sensitize their community members\u00a0 to avoid touching their
\neyes, Mouth or nose and those who want to sneeze should try\u00a0 as much as
\npossible to sneeze on their elbow.<\/p>\n

He said, “This is the period when local community sensitization should
\nbe deployed to further the efforts of government in combating this
\npandemic.<\/p>\n

“I am not only concerned about the distribution of food items to my
\nConstituents, I am more concerned\u00a0 about how Edo North farmers can
\nreturn to their farms after we have defeated COVID- 19 and that is\u00a0 why
\nI have provided farming equipment like Farm Chemicals, Farm water
\nPumping machines, hand Sprayer and other items to be distributed to our
\npeople because after COVID-19,\u00a0 people must feed and we can’t feed if
\nour farmers are not empowered to return back to their various farms. I
\nurge you all to give value to these farming materials by utilizing them
\naccordingly.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
