Nigerian Troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) have eliminated 134<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Boko Haram\/Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and
\narrested 16 informants in Borno State, according to the Defence
\nHeadquarters.<\/p>\n

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche,
\ndisclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Enenche disclosed that the success was recorded in the ongoing
\nsubsidiary operation in the North East Theatre of Operation code-named
\n\u2018Operation Kantana Jimlan.<\/p>\n

He said the operation, being conducted as part of the conclusive phase
\nof OPLD, was already recording monumental successes.<\/p>\n

Also, Army commences \u201cExercise Kun Gama\u201d at Falgore Forest, urges
\nresidents not to panic.<\/p>\n

According to him, the operation is being conducted preparatory to the
\nfinal routing of criminals from the Nigerian territory by the troops of
\nOPLD.<\/p>\n

He said the operation was coordinated by the Chief of Army Staff,
\nLt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, adding that it has intensified on various fronts
\nespecially within the Timbuktu triangle.<\/p>\n

Enenche added that the operation had left the criminal elements and
\ntheir leadership in complete disarray and thus setting the conditions
\nfor the commencement of the final assault on their enclaves and
\nhideouts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral targets were acquired and engaged with precision by Nigerian
\nArmy Artillery Regiments across the entire theatre thus delivering
\naccurate fire on the criminals who were seen fleeing in disarray.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a coordinated artillery bombardments on Timbuktu triangle conducted
\non May 1 and 2, seven Boko Haram Gun Trucks were destroyed while 78
\nfighters were killed as confirmed by both aerial and human intelligence.<\/p>\n

“Within the same period, another successful artillery engagement to Buk
\nin Damboa Local Government Area resulted in the neutralization of an
\nadditional 56 BHT criminals.<\/p>\n

\u201cActing on intelligence that a large number of BHT members were
\nconverging at the location, the gallant troops of the Nigerian Army
\nArtillery Regiments acquired and engaged the location with deadly
\nprecision, inflicting heavy casualties on them.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs confirmed by our intelligence sources, only a handful of the
\nterrorists escaped the location with gun shot wounds, with little
\nchances of survival,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Enenche further explained that 16 high profile Boko Haram informants
\nfell into the troops\u2019 dragnet within the last two weeks.<\/p>\n

He said that the arrest of such high profile informants had
\nsignificantly dislocated the terrorists\u2019 information and supply chains
\nand equally dislocating their communication.<\/p>\n

According to him, as the gallant troops continue to overwhelm the
\ncriminal elements on all fronts, it is quite apparent that the days of
\nthe criminal elements called Boko Haram are indeed numbered.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Buratai, who has been in the
\nTheatre with the troops for the past five weeks congratulated the
\ngallant troops for their resilience, courage and dedication to the noble
\ncause of defending our fatherland against the criminal elements.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe further urged them to remain focused and ruthless as they take the
\nfight to the fleeing remnants of the enemies of our nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe general public is hereby encouraged to provide credible information
\nto our Troops as the NIgerian Military remain resolute in tackling the
\nsecurity challenges of the Country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
