The International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, IBFD is honoured to
\nannounce the appointment of Dr Oby Ezekwesili to the Board of Trustees,
\neffective from 1 April 2020.<\/p>\n
As member of the Board of Trustees Dr Ezekwesili will contribute to the
\noversight of IBFD’s expansion in developing economies, bringing a wealth
\nof knowledge and experience in international organizations and capacity
\nbuilding. She will help IBFD build on its strengths: independence and
\nquality.<\/p>\n
Jan Maarten Slagter, CEO of IBFD, says:
\n“IBFD is delighted that Dr Ezekwesili has joined our Board of Trustees
\nand expect that her unique perspective and contribution will be
\nenormously beneficial, in particular to the work that we do in
\ndeveloping economies. The current crisis will put more strain on
\ngovernment budgets and domestic resource mobilization will be more
\nimportant than ever going forward.”<\/p>\n
Biography of Dr Oby Ezekwesili:
\nDr Ezekwesili was a candidate for the office of the President of Nigeria
\nin the 2019 election. She is an economic policy expert and senior
\neconomic adviser at the Africa Economic Development Policy Initiative
\n(AEDPI).<\/p>\n
She was a Richard von Weizs\u00e4cker Fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy and
\nis a co-founder of Transparency International.<\/p>\n
Dr Ezekwesili was Vice-President of the World Bank’s Africa division and
\nis former Nigerian Minister of Education, Minister of Solid Minerals,
\nHead of the Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit and former
\nChairperson of the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative
\n(NEITI).<\/p>\n
Dr Ezekwesili is also co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Africa
\nRegional Strategy Board and a co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls
\nmovement.<\/p>\n
For her national service and social commitment, Dr Ezekwesili was
\ndecorated with the national award of Commander of the Order of the
\nFederal Republic (CFR) of Nigeria. She was on the 2015 TIME 100 list of
\nthe most influential people in the world by Time Magazine.<\/p>\n
