{"id":73287,"date":"2020-05-07T17:13:24","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T16:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=73287"},"modified":"2020-05-07T17:13:24","modified_gmt":"2020-05-07T16:13:24","slug":"covid-19-be-wary-of-rising-online-scams-magu-cautions-nigerians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/covid-19-be-wary-of-rising-online-scams-magu-cautions-nigerians\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid 19: Be Wary of Rising Online Scams, Magu Cautions Nigerians"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"adn ads\" data-message-id=\"#msg-f:1666047745710609993\" data-legacy-message-id=\"171efd98fdebd649\">\n<div class=\"gs\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":ul\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":tu\" class=\"a3s aXjCH \">The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,<br \/>\nEFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has advised the general public to be wary of<br \/>\nscammers who have flooded the online space and social media platforms,<br \/>\nlooking for would-be victims, through fraudulent online job<br \/>\nadvertisements, fake Nigerian Customs Service auctions, and<br \/>\nimpersonation of bank staff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Any phone call demanding for your bank information,\u00a0 especially your<br \/>\nBVN, may be a scam because no bank will ask you for such,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nAdditionally, he advised the public to shun online investments, which<br \/>\nclaim to pay huge percentages within a short period of time, stating<br \/>\nthat such investments may be fraudulent.<\/p>\n<p>Magu disclosed this in Kaduna on Thursday,\u00a0 May 7,\u00a0 2020 during a live<br \/>\nHausa radio programme: &#8220;Chirin Kasanmu Ayau,&#8221; on Kaduna State Media<br \/>\nCorporation&#8217;s (KSMC).
