COVID-19 Local Governments Task Force to identify hotels still operating
\nduring the lockdown for the State Government to demolish the hotels.<\/p>\n

Inaugurating the Rivers State COVID-19 Local Governments Task Force at
\nthe Government House,\u00a0 Port Harcourt on Thursday also charged them to
\nidentify erring beer parlours.<\/p>\n

He said: “From tomorrow,\u00a0 move in. Any hotel that is operating ,
\nidentify it and we will bring down the hotels.<\/p>\n

“I have the political will.\u00a0 Those people who disobey,\u00a0 will face the
\nconsequences.”<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said that the Task-force must be decisive to ensure that
\ncoronavirus is not accommodated in Rivers State.<\/p>\n

The Governor said that the Task-force must take it that they are being
\ndrafted to fight an invisible and their duty is to defend the state.<\/p>\n

He said: “Nobody should come from outside to compound our problems.
\nThen you want to import this invisible killer. We will not that. ”<\/p>\n

He appealed to Rivers people to make sacrifices at this time in the
\nfight against coronavirus. He noted that this a period of crisis and all
\nhands must be on deck to check coronavirus.<\/p>\n

“If we allow what is happening to continue,\u00a0 we don’t have the capacity
\nto face it. And there will be no support from any Quarter,” he said.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike urged all Rivers people to see themselves as first class
\ncitizens of the country,\u00a0 saying under no circumstances should they
\nallow themselves to be relegated.<\/p>\n

He charged the operatives of the Task Force to see their appointment as
\nthe opportunity to defend Rivers State and use their ability for the
\nbenefit of the people.<\/p>\n

The Governor informed members of the Rivers State COVID-19 Local
\nGovernments Task Force that they will be on the payroll of the State
\nGovernment.<\/p>\n

He said that the Task Force will enforce key aspects of the State
\nGovernment’s directive on COVID-19 in all the Local Government Areas.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said that hotels with existing guests,\u00a0 must send their
\nlists to his office for scrutiny and approval.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
