One of Nigeria’s thriving indigenous construction companies, Rodnab
\nConstructions Limited, has repudiated social media reports alleging
\nelements of fraud in the N16.2billion contract awarded to it for the
\nbuilding of the permanent headquarters of the Niger Delta Development
\nCommission, NDDC.<\/p>\n
A statement signed the Company Secretary and Legal Adviser, Adamu Musa,
\nsaid “all contracts awarded to Rodnab Constructions Limited in NDDC and
\nother places were duly awarded, they were duly tendered for, won and
\napproved by the NDDC Governing Board and further approved by the Federal
\nExecutive Council, having met all the necessary conditions.”<\/p>\n
It dismissed the report allegedly “sourced from the office of the
\nAuditor General as a complete cocktail of lies, innuendos and a figment
\nof the imagination of the authors, adding that “neither the office of
\nthe Auditor-General of the Federation nor the NDDC has contacted us
\neither in writing or in person over the N16.2billion NDDC contract with
\nregards to any violation.”<\/p>\n
The statement reads:<\/p>\n
“Our attention has been drawn to a report in the social media alleging
\nthat the N16.2billion contract awarded to Rodnab Construction Limited,
\nfor the permanent headquarters of the Niger Delta Development
\nCommission, NDDC, was done illegally, without authorization.<\/p>\n
“The so-called report, allegedly sourced from the office of the Auditor
\nGeneral is a complete cocktail of lies, innuendos and a figment of the
\nimagination of the authors.<\/p>\n
“For the records, all contracts awarded to Rodnab Construction Limited
\nin NDDC and other places were duly awarded, they were duly tendered for,
\nwon and approved by the NDDC Governing Board and further approved by the
\nFederal Executive Council, having met all the necessary conditions.<\/p>\n
“We are definitely not in the business to flout rules, cut corners or
\ndefraud the system. We take Government rules and financial regulations
\nvery seriously. It is therefore mischievous to insinuate that contracts
\nduly approved by all approving organs of Government are illegal.<\/p>\n
“Neither the office of the Auditor-General of the Federation nor the
\nNDDC has contacted us either in writing or in person over the
\nN16.2billion NDDC contract with regards to any violation.<\/p>\n
“As a law-abiding indigenous contracting firm, we are equipped with the
\nbest hands as financial experts and Internal auditors applying best
\nprofessional practices, we have never received any query as claimed by
\nthe writers from the office of the Auditor-General of the Federation or
\nanyone.<\/p>\n
“And for the umpteenth time, Rodnab Constructions Limited has no
\npersonal relationship with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator
\nGodswill Akpabio. Rodnab Construction Limited, a registered indigenous
\ntop-grade company in Nigeria whose involvements in NDDC contracts
\npredates Senator Akpabio’s appointment as Minister of Niger Delta
\nAffairs, is effectively helping to fulfil the mandate of NDDC in
\ninfrastructure development of the Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n
“While we are committed to guarding the integrity and trust of our
\ncompany, we advise people to be wary of people who are bent on
\ntarnishing the image of others and organizations for political,
\nideological, economic reasons.”<\/p>\n
