\nThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reviews the five years administration
\nof President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progress Congress (APC) Federal
\nGovernment and surmised that they have taken our country 60 years
\nbackward.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party
\nsaid “In line with the assessments of majority of Nigerians, our party
\nviews the last five years of Buhari administration as wasteful and could
\nat the best be described as the season of the locusts.<\/p>\n

“The PDP laments that the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC)
\ngovernment has turned our nation into a wasteland, devastated her
\neconomy, shattered our national dreams, crushed the hope of citizens and
\nset our country backward.<\/p>\n

“The party describes as saddening that May 29, under President Buhari,
\nhas become synonymous with the enthronement of incompetence, insensitive
\nleadership, endemic corruption in high places and governance by
\npropaganda and false performance claims.<\/p>\n

“The PDP laments that the APC administration has reversed all the gains
\nachieved by the PDP for which May 29 was always celebrated and left the
\ncountry dejected and despondent.<\/p>\n

“Under President Buhari, May 29 has become a day of grieving for
\nNigerians; a day for commemoration of failed promises, reversal of gains
\nachieved by past leaders and retrogression in our body polity as a
\nnation.<\/p>\n

“This administration has failed woefully in its three major governance
\nplanks of provision of security, economic recovery and fight against
\ncorruption.<\/p>\n

“In the last five years, the APC administration has done nothing but
\ndriving our nation along the precipices; reneged on all its campaign
\npromises, ruined our productive sector, frustrated our farmers,
\nmanufacturers and small scale entrepreneurs, devalued our naira, wrecked
\nemployment opportunities for our youth, turned our once prosperous
\nnation into the poverty capital of the world while accumulating huge
\nforeign debts for this generation and the unborn.<\/p>\n

“Under five years, President Buhari has borrowed from every corner of
\nthe world. These include external borrowing of\u00a0 $10.72 billion (N4.1
\ntrillion) in 2015, $11.41 billion (N4.4 trillion) in 2016, $18.91
\nbillion (N7.3 trillion) in 2017, $25.27 billion (N9.8 trillion) in 2018,
\n$27.68 billion (N10.7 trillion) in 2019 as well as 2020 loans of $3.4
\nbillion (N1.3 trillion) from IMF, $4.4 million (N1.594 billion) internal
\nborrowing, $22.7 billion (N8.8 trillion) external loan and the recently
\nyet to be approved $5.513 billion (N2.1 trillion) waiting before the
\nNational Assembly.<\/p>\n

“Our party had already alerted Nigerians that with the volume of
\nborrowing, President Buhari and the APC have placed our nation on the
\ninternational auction market.<\/p>\n

“In the last five years, corruption has also worsened in government
\ncircle as shown in Transparency International (TI)\u2019s corruption
\nperception index.\u00a0 Federal Government agencies such as the Nigeria
\nNational Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Federal Inland Revenue Service
\n(FIRS), National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) among others have been
\nopened up for pillaging by the cabal in the Presidency and the APC.<\/p>\n

“Under the APC administration, insurgents, marauders and bandits, who
\nhave been pushed to the fringes under the PDP, have resurged and now
\nhaving field day ravaging communities and killing our compatriots while
\ngovernment continue in its lip service and empty condolence messages.<\/p>\n

“It is distressing that instead of heeding wise counsel to accept
\nfailure and avoid making false performance claims, the Buhari Presidency
\njust yesterday, released a list of recycled fictitious achievements,
\nincluding very insensitive claim of having routed out bandits; even as
\nmarauders were pillaging communities and killing our compatriots in
\nSokoto and other states, particularly in the Northwest.<\/p>\n

“A look at the list exposed reused figures and data without
\ncorresponding verifiable projects in any part of the country, apart from
\nattempts to appropriate PDP projects.<\/p>\n

“Our party once again asks President Buhari to wake up to the reality,
\naccept failure and seek help since it has become clear that his
\nadministration as presently constituted has devastated our nation and
\nleading us on a journey to nowhere.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
