The Bureau of Public Enterprises is not opposed to the planned forensic
\naudit of the power companies in Nigeria by the Federal Government and
\ntherefore, not part of the decision by the eleven (11) power
\nDistribution Companies (Discos) to seek court redress to retrain the
\nNigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) from interfering in
\ntheir (Discos)’s corporate activities, Director General of the Bureau,
\nMr. Alex A. Okoh has said.
\nIn a statement personally signed by the Director General and copied\u00a0 the
\nExecutive Chairman of NERC on Friday, May 29, 2020, Okoh said ” BPE was
\nnot consulted and was not part of this action”.<\/p>\n
The Statement reads in part: “For the avoidance of doubt, the Bureau
\nwishes to inform NERC that there was never a time when the Boards of the
\nDiscos neither discussed any of these matters nor decided to oppose the
\nforensic audit or any of such matter.<\/p>\n
“Please, note that the Bureau was not consulted and is not part of this
\naction; and therefore is not opposed to the forensic audit being planned
\nby the Federal Government”.<\/p>\n
It would be recalled that the eleven (11) Discos have gone to court to
\nrestraint the NERC from interfering in their corporate activities as
\nwell as restrain the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the
\nNational Economic Council (NEC) from what they described as undue
\ninterferences in the activities.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Discos are seeking to restraint NERC from sending
