The Oluyede Royal Family of Ayede-Ogbese in Akure North Local
\nGovernment, Ondo State, on Thursday distributed two thousand nose masks
\ntowards the campaign against COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

At a town hall meeting hosted at the Palace of Alayede of Ayede-Ogbese
\nby the Regent to the stool of the Kingdom, Princess Catherine Bukola
\nAkinyede, one thousand food packs were also distributed to the residents
\nof Ayede-Ogbese and other villages and towns in the Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event to which residents were only allowed in after
\nobserving the appropriate sanitary safeguards in respect of disease
\ncontrol, Princess Bukola Akinyede said the forum was not for reasons
\nother than ensuring that her subjects had relevant information on
\nseveral measures in the face of the defiant spread of Coronavirus.<\/p>\n

She also explained that every family with historical link and property
\nin the community ought to stand firm with the ruling family and the
\nCouncil of Chiefs in order to deter persons who have been staging
\nprovocative incursions into farmlands and properties within the Kingdom
\nlimits.<\/p>\n

She called on Ayede-Ogbese indigenes and residents to co-operate with
\ngovernment in keeping the peace and tranquility of the area.\u00a0 The
\nOdopetu of Ayede-Ogbese, High Chief Oladimeji Abitogun, accused
\nindividuals whom he described as \u201crevisionists, dishonest intellectual
\ndwarfs\u201d as pushing \u201cfallacious history\u201d about the originality of
\nAyede-Ogbese as a Kingdom. These characters have no respect for the
\nhuman worth of persons or communities that are not big, the fact is that
\nthis is where God said we should be, we are not afraid of our small-town
\nidentity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have come to stay as a Kingdom, we existed here for ages and no
\nattempt or fraudulent stories from them would ever make our land
\navailable for grabs.\u00a0 Their motivation is the greed factor.\u00a0 Yes, we
\nhave a linguistic affinity with them, we are never their subjects.
\nAyede-Ogbese shares common boundaries with Uso to the East, not Owo as
\noften claimed in error.\u00a0 And to the West, we share a boundary with
\nOba-Ile, not Akure, as internal colonizers would want to stamp out our
\nidentity\u201d, he submitted.<\/p>\n

The forum which was moderated by the Adaja of the community, Chief Femi
\nJoseph, also had in attendance, all the members of the Council of Chiefs
\nled by High Chief Femi Fajembimo, the Lisa of Ayede-Ogbese, the members
\nof the Oluyede Royal House, religious leaders, the Divisional Police
\nOfficer, Mr. Olawoyin, political and religious leaders as well.\u00a0 Rules
\nof social distancing were kept.<\/p>\n

The climax of the event was the unveiling of the Coat of Arms of the
\nRoyal Family, gold and purple colour, with an elephant crest,
\nsymbolizing the King of the jungle that was subdued in ancient times in
\norder for the Kingdom to thrive.
\nAyede-Ogbese is a major community known for its agricultural plantations
