The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office,<\/div>\n

on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, secured the interim forfeiture of the sum
\nof N250,000,000.00 ( Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira ) illegally
\ndiverted from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, through a
\ncontractor.<\/p>\n

Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos gave the
\norder, following an ex-parte application filed by the Commission.<\/p>\n

Counsel to the EFCC, Usman Buhari, in the application, stated that the
\nmoney had been illegally diverted from the NDDC, through a contract
\nawarded by the Federal Government of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Buhari also prayed for an order of the court, directing the publication
\nof the interim forfeiture in a national newspaper for anyone interested
\nin the fund to show cause, within 14 days, why a final order of
\nforfeiture should not be made on it in favor of the Federal Government
\nof Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Justice Aikawa, in a short ruling, granted all the reliefs sought by the
\nEFCC and ordered the forfeiture of the money to the Federal\u00a0 Government
\nof Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The judge further directed the Commission to publish the order in any
\nnational newspaper within 14 days, notifying the respondents or anyone
\ninterested in the money to appear before the court and show cause why it
\nshould not be finally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

He adjourned the matter till July 9, 2020.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
