\nFormer National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams
\nOshiomhole, says he has accepted the decision of the party\u2019s National
\nExecutive Committee (NEC) that dissolved the National Working Committee
\n(NWC) in good faith.<\/p>\n

Oshiomhole made the declaration at a news conference in Abuja on
\nSaturday.<\/p>\n

He said that he would not question either the legality or otherwise of
\nthe NEC\u2019s decision because the President was behind his emergence as the
\nparty\u2019s National Chairman.<\/p>\n

The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) recalls that President Buhari and the
\nNEC had on Thursday dissolved the NWC and constituted
\ncaretaker\/extra-ordinary convention planning committee headed by Gov.
\nMai Mala Buni of Yobe, to reset the party.<\/p>\n

Oshiomhole said: \u201cI thought that it is important that I formally react
\nto the recent events as it affects our party.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all aware that on Thursday, a special NEC meeting was called and
\nwas attended by Mr. President, governors, APC leadership of the two
\nchambers of the National Assembly, and some other leaders of our party.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the meeting, the National Working Committee was
\ndissolved, and accordingly, I cease to be the chairman of the All
\nProgressives Congress\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

According to him, the APC under his chairmanship has done its best and
\nthe results are there.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, we have now been dissolved and I have accepted that
\ndissolution in good fate.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going into the question of legality or illegality.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bottom line is that the President, who invited me to lead the party
\nand who mobilized all the support for my emergence as chairman, also
\npresided over the meeting where the NWC has now been dissolved.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Oshiomhole recalled that President graciously invited him to run for the
\noffice of chairmanship of the party in 2018.<\/p>\n

He added that the President had directed him to reform the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know that reforms are challenging and it will entail taking
\ndifficult decisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cMine has been a life of trouble and I accepted this,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

The former chairman listed his achievements as an overwhelming victory
\nachieved in 2019 general elections as the party recorded better results
\nin Presidential election in 2019 and then 2015 poll.<\/p>\n

He said that the party won governorship elections in the two opposition
\nstates; Kwara and Gombe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe I did my best because 2019 elections have come and gone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to Nigerian people, our president had more votes in 2019 than we
\nhad in 2015.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have more members in the Senate and House of Representatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlike in 2015, we were not able to manage our victory in the two
\nchambers such that we had an APC President in the Senate and PDP Deputy
\nSenate President.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time we were working hard with my colleagues in the NWC and in
\nconsultation with leaders of our party across the board, we have the
\nkind of unity expected in the governing party in the two chambers of the
\nNational Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy that the leadership of the National Assembly is working
\nharmoniously with Mt President,\u2019\u2019 Oshiomhole said.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
