BUA Cement, One of West Africa\u2019s largest Cement companies has announced
\nthat it is set to establish a three million metric tonnes cement plant
\nand 50 megawatts power plant in Guyuk and Lamurde local governments of
\nAdamawa state in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
This was revealed when the Chairman of BUA, Abdul Samad Rabiu led the
\nBUA Cement Management team on a courtesy call to the Adamawa State
\nGovernor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House, Yola.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the visit, Abdul Samad Rabiu said preliminary findings
\nshow that the two local governments of Guyuk and Lamurde are reputed to
\nhave a good quality of limestone deposits and BUA Cement is ready to
\nbegin the investment in the state.<\/p>\n
He added that the BUA will use new technologies to supply power to the
\nproposed cement plant and communities of Guyuk and Lamurde in addition
\nto providing three thousand direct and five thousand indirect jobs.<\/p>\n
The Chairman stressed that the Guyuk Cement Plant will be the major
\ninvestment in the North-East by BUA and solicited for the support of
\nGovernor Umaru Fintiri to set up the factory in Guyuk.<\/p>\n
Rabiu said the company made a decision to source its raw materials
\nlocally and it has invested billions of dollars in various sectors
\nacross Nigeria and therefore urged the state government to support BUA
\nto actualize the Guyuk Cement project.<\/p>\n
In addition, he praised the commitment of the governor within one year
\nin office in many sectors of development despite the economic challenges
\nin Adamawa.<\/p>\n
Responding, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said his administration’s
\neffort in exploring local content has started yielding results and
\nthanked BUA for showing interest in establishing the cement plant in
\nGuyuk. He further assured the management team of BUA that the government
\nwill make whatever is needed and provide the necessary support which
\nwill create an enabling environment so that the BUA Cement company in
\nGuyuk will become a reality.<\/p>\n
He also expressed the readiness of the government to protect the
\ninvestment once it is established and told them that his administration
\nwill maintain a good relationship with the company for the benefit of
\nthe state.<\/p>\n
BUA is Nigeria\u2019s second-largest Cement Producer by volume with cement
\nplants in Sokoto and Edo States. The Company\u2019s newest plant in Sokoto is
\nexpected to be operational in 2021. When completed, the Guyuk Cement
\nPlant will bring BUA\u2019s total capacity to 14million metric tonnes per
