{"id":74762,"date":"2020-07-10T22:33:35","date_gmt":"2020-07-10T21:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=74762"},"modified":"2020-07-10T22:33:35","modified_gmt":"2020-07-10T21:33:35","slug":"buharis-govt-is-the-most-corrupt-in-nigerias-history-ononuju","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/buharis-govt-is-the-most-corrupt-in-nigerias-history-ononuju\/","title":{"rendered":"Buhari\u2019s Govt Is The Most Corrupt In Nigeria\u2019s History \u2013 Ononuju"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m5635744746220695931\" class=\"mail-message \">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Katch Ononuju has<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"m1093576919753112113\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">reacted to the probe of the embattled boss of the Economic and Financial<br \/>\nCrimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu over corruption allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Friday during an interview on Channels Television\u2019s Politics<br \/>\nToday, Ononuju alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s administration<br \/>\nis the most corrupt in Nigeria\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the anti-graft agency was used as a recruitment agency<br \/>\nfor the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after sweeping to power<br \/>\nin 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo government in Nigeria\u2019s history has ever shown itself to be this<br \/>\nmassively corrupt. Nobody has ever done this quantum of corruption,\u201d he<br \/>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking further, he accused the suspended EFCC boss of using who he<br \/>\ndescribed as \u2018boys\u2019 to intimidate people under the pretext of<br \/>\nprosecuting corrupt individuals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t forget, Mr Magu was used for recruitment. They would come to you<br \/>\nand if you are guilty, the Magu boys will go and perform heavy<br \/>\nshake-down. The next day you travel to your village, come back with a<br \/>\ncard, you are in APC and you are free,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On the travails of Magu, the PDP member explained that the suspended<br \/>\nEFCC czar began to deal with the system upon realizing that he was being<br \/>\nused by the ruling party.<\/p>\n<p>While insisting that Nigerians should not blame Magu, he maintained that<br \/>\nMagu saw how the anti-graft agency was handled under his predecessors<br \/>\nnotably Nuhu Ribadu, Ibrahim Lamorde as the system did not ask a<br \/>\nquestion.<\/p>\n<p>Ononuju, however, noted that his party, the PDP will still compile a<br \/>\nlist of its members that have been deprived of their properties by the<br \/>\nEFCC in the name of fighting corruption.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks come two days after the main opposition party called for the<br \/>\nthorough investigation of Magu, adding that it is the thing to do.<\/p>\n<p>PDP said Magu\u2019s \u2018indictment\u2019 reinforces its position that the much-hyped<br \/>\nwar against corruption by the EFCC, under his watch, has been a huge<br \/>\nscam by corrupt individuals to cover the plundering of public resources,<br \/>\nharass political opponents, intimidate and extort money from innocent<br \/>\nNigerians.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Katch Ononuju has reacted to the probe of the embattled boss of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu over&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":74763,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-74762","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
