{"id":74945,"date":"2020-07-21T03:57:09","date_gmt":"2020-07-21T02:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=74945"},"modified":"2020-07-21T03:57:09","modified_gmt":"2020-07-21T02:57:09","slug":"edo-2020-over-87-apc-councilors-vow-to-resist-obasekis-harassment-to-forcefully-join-pdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/edo-2020-over-87-apc-councilors-vow-to-resist-obasekis-harassment-to-forcefully-join-pdp\/","title":{"rendered":"Edo 2020: Over 87 APC Councilors vow to resist Obaseki&#8217;s harassment to forcefully join PDP"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-1618496828083586278\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">Over 87 elected Councilors in the Edo State have vowed to resist the<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">harassment and official intimidation meted out to them by Governor<br \/>\nGodwin Obaseki to forcefully join the PDP.<\/p>\n<p>The Councilors, most of whom were elected on the platform of the APC,<br \/>\ndismissed claims of their defection allegedly sponsored in the media by<br \/>\nGodwin Obaseki to portray false solidarity while insisting that the<br \/>\nGovernor&#8217;s performance since 2016 has neither inspired confidence nor<br \/>\nprovided motivation for them to join his defection.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the group, Hon. Emwinghare Osabuohien of Ward 2,<br \/>\nEgor Local Government Council, condemned their suspension which he<br \/>\ndeemed illegal and the refusal of the state government to pay their<br \/>\nsalaries over the expression of their constitutionally protected freedom<br \/>\nto associate and maintain membership of a preferred political party.<\/p>\n<p>Other Councilors, including Hon. Okpamen Angela representing Ovia West,<br \/>\nHon. Kingsley Ogiri, and Hon.
