{"id":74968,"date":"2020-07-21T16:25:57","date_gmt":"2020-07-21T15:25:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=74968"},"modified":"2020-07-21T16:25:57","modified_gmt":"2020-07-21T15:25:57","slug":"buhari-rejects-senate-resolution-to-sack-service-chiefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/buhari-rejects-senate-resolution-to-sack-service-chiefs\/","title":{"rendered":"Buhari Rejects Senate Resolution To Sack Service Chiefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>President Mohammadu Buhari has rejected the Senate resolution asking all service chiefs to resign for failing to tame insecurity in Nigeria.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Buhari whose reaction to the Senate resolution was conveyed by Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, said it was his prerogative to decide when and how to relieve service chiefs of their position.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cAppointment or sack of Service Chiefs is a Presidential prerogative, and President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, will do what is in the best interest of the country at all times,\u201d presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, declared Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate had adopted a resolution calling on the Service Chiefs to resign or be sacked due to the multi-pronged security challenges in the country.<\/p>\n<p>It came\u00a0 after the lawmakers deliberated on a motion moved by Senator Ali Ndume (APC \u2013 Borno South) on the rising number of casualties among soldiers and other security agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Ndume in his presentation, appreciated the sacrifices that the soldiers make for the country but expressed worry about the rising casualties among the troops.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore emphasised the need for better service conditions for them.<\/p>\n<p>Adesina however said \u201cthe Presidency notes the resolution,\u201d but reiterated that appointment or sack of Service Chiefs was \u201ca Presidential prerogative, and President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, will do what is in the best interest of the country at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Mohammadu Buhari has rejected the Senate resolution asking all service chiefs to resign for failing to tame insecurity in Nigeria.
