Yakubu Dogara has explained the reasons why he left the opposition
\nPeople’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress
\n(APC), accusing Governor Bala Mohammed of N4.6billion fraud.In a letter of resignation addressed to the Bogoro ‘C’ Ward Chairman of
\nthe PDP dated July 24, 2020, Hon Dogara alluded to failure or breakdown
\nof governance in his native state of Bauchi under the administration of
\nGovernor Bala Mohammed whom he helped install as a governor in the 2019
\nelections.<\/p>\n

Dogara who raised questions on issues relating to the failure of
\ngovernance in Bauchi State noted that he cannot successfully ask
\nquestions about those issues without being accused of disloyalty if he
\nwere to remain in the PDP.<\/p>\n

He argued that if he abdicates this responsibility of telling the truth
\nto power in Bauchi State, having done the same under the administrations
\nof former Governors Isa Yuguda and Mohammed Abubakar he will be the most
\nirresponsible and unprincipled politician in Bauchi State.<\/p>\n

LETTER OF RESIGNATION OF MY MEMBERSHIP OF THE PDP<\/p>\n

The above subject matter refers.<\/p>\n

I write to intimate you of my decision to resign my membership of the
\nPeoples Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n

This became necessary because the same reasons why we fought hard in
\n2019 to effect changes in the Governance of our dear state are festering
\nnow.<\/p>\n

I intend to bring these issues to the front burners once again as the
\nfight to install decent
\nand egalitarian government in our dear state continues.<\/p>\n

Specifically, I intend to ask questions about the following:<\/p>\n

a.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 What has happened to LGA allocations since May 2019?
\nb.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 What happened to our campaign promise to conduct LGA elections within
\nsix months of the PDP government?
\nc.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 What happened to the N4.6 billion loan taken from a bank and paid
\ndirectly into a private company’s account?
\nd.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Why are we segmenting salaries and why is payment of salaries of
\nstate workers outsourced to a private firm as consultants?
\ne.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Why are contracts inflated, awarded and payment of mobilisation done
\nin violation of extant rules on procurement?
\nf.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Why are our highly revered Traditional Rulers and Elders treated with
\nodium contrary to the guarantee we gave during the campaign that such
\nwill not happen under a PDP government?<\/p>\n

Mr. Chairman, you will agree with me that I cannot raise these issues
\nand many more questions without a charge of disloyalty levelled against
\nme if I were to remain a member of the PDP.<\/p>\n

I cannot also fail to raise these questions now, having raised similar
\nones during the administrations of Governors Isa Yuguda and Mohammed A.
\nAbubakar. If I abdicate this responsibility on the altar of partisan
\nloyalty, I will be the most irresponsible and unprincipled politician in
\nBauchi State.<\/p>\n

Thus, by this letter, I have resigned my membership of the PDP to enable
\nme keep faith with my principle of fighting for good governance in our
\nDear State.<\/p>\n
