Governorship Election says it will scuttle plans by the All Progressives
\nCongress (APC) to use security agencies to rig the forthcoming polls.<\/p>\n

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt today, the Chairman of the
\nCampaign Council, Governor Nyesom Wike said the APC is confident about
\nwinning because they want to rig.<\/p>\n

He stated that the PDP has gathered enough intelligence reports about
\nthe unholy plan and would scuttle it at the appropriate time.<\/p>\n

The Chairman who is also the Governor of Rivers State stated that
\nGovernor Godwin Obaseki cannot be described as an ingrate because he has
\nproven to be a man of character.<\/p>\n

“Governor Godwin Obaseki is not an ingrate like Adams Oshiomhole and
\nOsagie Ize-Iyamu who can do anything including betraying people to grab
\npower.<\/p>\n

“Obaseki is morally qualified and stands out as the best candidate for
\nthe September 19th, 2020 election.<\/p>\n

“Edo people cannot support and desire the handover of power to the APC
\ncandidate,\u00a0 Osagie Ize-Iyamu,\u00a0 who is a nomadic politician and ingrate
\nwho lacks character.<\/p>\n

“It is Oshiomhole who is an ingrate because he told us that Obaseki
\nserved as the brain box of his administration that lasted eight years.
\nHow can such a person become an ingrate?<\/p>\n

“Look at Ize-Iyamu, he is an ingrate too. He served as Secretary to the
\nState Government in Chief Lucky Igbinedion’s administration. When he
\ndidn’t get what he wanted,\u00a0 he dumped the Party and moved to another
\nParty.<\/p>\n

“In 2015, people supported him for the governorship,\u00a0 when he failed,
\nhe did not consult them but abandoned them for another Party.<\/p>\n

“That is the life of a nomadic politician. Like his master,\u00a0 they are
\ndangerously desperate, insatiable and can do anything for power.<\/p>\n

“Character and integrity must be the yardstick to elect any candidate in
\nthe Edo election. Edo people must resist the third term agenda of
\nOshiomhole.<\/p>\n

“For Oshiomhole, the election is a face-saving,\u00a0 do or die venture
\nhaving been treated badly in Abuja, “he stated.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike stated that Governor Obaseki is not a violent man like
\nIze-Iyamu who has instructed the thugs he called “lions and tigers” to
\ncause the crisis.<\/p>\n

He challenged the Police and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)
\nto use the Edo election to correct previous mistakes by conducting free
\nand fair polls.<\/p>\n

“We consider the comment by INEC to cancel or suspend the election
\nbecause of violence as succumbing to the antics of the APC.<\/p>\n

“All they want is violence because they cannot win the election. If the
\nelection is suspended, the implication is that Obaseki will serve out
\nhis tenure without an election in November.<\/p>\n

“I am surprised that APC will support a man it charged to court for
\ncorruption. Such a stance shows that their corruption fight is a farce
\nand a witch hunt of political opponents.<\/p>\n

“Why will APC say that PDP has no justification to demand that Osagie
\nIze-Iyamu should go and face his charges before the Economic And
\nFinancial Crimes Commission ( EFCC). This is a Party that told Nigerians
\nin 2015 of its resolve to fight corruption.<\/p>\n

“It is also APC that took him to court.\u00a0 Oshiomhole was the one who told
\nus that Edo people cannot vote for a man who is corrupt.\u00a0 Now they are
\nsaying he is their candidate because he has not been found guilty.<\/p>\n

“We are tired of this double standard. They apply the rule differently
\nto different people,” he said.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike urged Nigerians to ask the APC governorship candidate for
\nEdo election why he refused to attend the\u00a0 Nigeria Law School after he
\nclaimed to have graduated from the University of Benin.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
