{"id":75335,"date":"2020-08-12T16:17:54","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T15:17:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=75335"},"modified":"2020-08-12T16:17:54","modified_gmt":"2020-08-12T15:17:54","slug":"efcc-investigates-two-lebanese-for-890000-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/efcc-investigates-two-lebanese-for-890000-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Investigates Two Lebanese For $890,000 Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation of two Lebanese:\u00a0 Dina Jihad Khali and Chamseddine Waell Mohmmed, who were arrested by officers of the Customs Area Command, Port Harcourt, Rivers State,\u00a0for attempting to smuggle a total sum of $890,000 USD (Eight Hundred and Ninety Thousand United States Dollars) out of Nigeria,\u00a0through the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The suspects\u00a0were arrested\u00a0on Wednesday,\u00a0August 12, 2020, and\u00a0handed over to the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the EFCC for further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking while handing over the two suspects, A.B Mohammed Olayinka, Customs Area Controller, disclosed that Khali with Passport<\/p>\n<p>Number LR152975 (Republic of Lebanon) was arrested with $670,000USD (Six Hundred and Seventy Thousand Dollars ) while Mohammed with Passport Number LR0356598 (Republic of Lebanon) had $220,000USD (Two Hundred and Twenty Thousand Dollars)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They were both arrested while trying to board a flight to Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He further disclosed that the money recovered from the suspects, which they failed to declare to Customs, has been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Rivers State Branch, for safekeeping.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Principal Detective Superintendent Macaulay Olayinka, who received the suspects on behalf of the Zonal Head, thanked officers of the Customs\u00a0 Area Command for the synergy that exist between the Command and the EFCC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He assured that investigation will commence in earnest, adding that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is<\/p>\n<p>concluded.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced an investigation of two Lebanese:\u00a0 Dina Jihad Khali and Chamseddine Waell Mohmmed, who were arrested by officers of the Customs Area&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":75336,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-75335","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
