{"id":75377,"date":"2020-08-15T06:17:39","date_gmt":"2020-08-15T05:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=75377"},"modified":"2020-08-15T06:17:39","modified_gmt":"2020-08-15T05:17:39","slug":"alex-otti-dumps-apga-for-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/alex-otti-dumps-apga-for-apc\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex Otti dumps APGA for APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-5362254703022622329\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">in Abia State in 2015 and 2019 elections, Alex Otti, has declared for<br \/>\nthe All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Otti, who made his declaration on Friday at his Ehi na Uguru Ward 5,<br \/>\nin Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, promised to keep fighting to<br \/>\nsalvage the state from the grips of endless bad governance.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was joining APC for the good of his people, saying \u201cwe must<br \/>\nalways put the people first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said his decision to leave APGA was not an easy one, neither was it<br \/>\none that he made overnight.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was a decision made based on my unshakable belief that it is<br \/>\nfor the good of my beloved state and people of Abia.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Otti said he was joining APC alongside about 450,000 members of<br \/>\nAPGA, who were loyal to him.<\/p>\n<p>He decried the level of insecurity, decayed infrastructure,<br \/>\nunemployment, unpaid salaries and pensions, endemic poverty among others<br \/>\nas some of the challenges crippling the state.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Otti expressed dismay that the state now occupied a very low<br \/>\nposition in the ranking of states in the Human Development Index because<br \/>\nof bad leadership.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cI have, therefore, chosen to keep on fighting in order to<br \/>\nliberate our people and make them achieve their full potential as human<br \/>\nbeings and rightful citizens of Nigeria and the World.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs our people say, if you embark on a journey, you must be walking<br \/>\nuntil you get to your destination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have not arrived yet, so we keep walking. We are a great people and<br \/>\nwe know it. It is our destiny.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the great task of our lives. We must lead our people to the<br \/>\npromised land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Otti, a former Managing Director of the defunct Diamond Bank Plc,<br \/>\npledged to use his vast experience and contacts in the finance and<br \/>\nmanagement industry to attract massive investments to industrialise the<br \/>\nstate.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Nnamdi Francis the Ward 5 Chairman of APC, while presenting Mr.<br \/>\nOtti to the party, described him as a \u2018big fish\u2019, who would help to<br \/>\nreposition the party in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Otti was later welcomed at the party\u2019s state secretariat in Umuahia,<br \/>\nby the APC stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The state Chairman of APC, Donatus Nwamkpa, while welcoming Mr. Otti<br \/>\nsaid there was no discrimination at the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always longed to have you in our midst because our mission is<br \/>\nto rescue Abia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Nwamkpa, however, said APC had no automatic ticket for anybody.<\/p>\n<p>He told Mr. Otti that every member of the party was important while<br \/>\nassuring him that he would not suffer any form of discrimination in the<br \/>\nparty.<\/p>\n<p>(NAN)<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State in 2015 and 2019 elections, Alex Otti, has declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
