The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council Chairman,<\/div>\n
\n
Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the Edo governorship
\nelection will be won convincingly by Governor Godwin Obaseki.<\/p>\n

The PDP National Campaign chairman who is also the Governor of Rivers
\nState made the assertion at the Grand Finale of the Edo PDP Campaign
\nheld at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said the convincing evidence on the ground has shown the
\ngeneral acceptance of the party by the electorate.<\/p>\n

He stated that with the achievements of the last four years, it would be
\nimpossible for Governor\u00a0 Obaseki not to be declared the winner.<\/p>\n

The Governor however urged the Edo people not to take things for granted
\nbut turn out in large numbers to vote the candidate of PDP.<\/p>\n

“By the grace of God, the election has been won by Governor\u00a0 Obaseki.
\nThat does not mean that you’ll go and sleep. Everybody that wants to
\nfight godfatherism should come out to vote.<\/p>\n

“Use Edo election to end godfatherism.\u00a0 Make sure you vote and be
\nvigilant too.<\/p>\n

“I agree with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that
\nthe election will be free and fair. Even the Inspector General of Police
\nhas promised that nobody will rig the election. But do not leave the
\npolling units after casting your votes.<\/p>\n

“Repeat the Rivers State Model. Let every woman wear jeans on election
\nday, cast, and defend your votes.<\/p>\n

“Follow the votes to the Collation Centres. Do not go until INEC has
\nannounced Godwin Obaseki as the winner,” he said.<\/p>\n

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche
\nSecondus described the Edo election as a special one.<\/p>\n

He said the election would determine the status of elective democracy in
\nNigeria that is devoid of rigging.<\/p>\n

“Let there be more restrictions for election riggers. Just like the
\nUnited States has done,\u00a0 I call on other democratic countries of the
\nworld to rise to protect Nigeria’s democracy.<\/p>\n

“We all know that Obaseki is a performing governor. He has impacted the
\nlives of the Edo people. Let their will prevail.\u00a0 Edo people should
\nresist all forms of godfatherism,” he stated.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, and Governor of
\nSokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal urged the Edo people not to
\nsell their votes.<\/p>\n

“I hear somebody said he will come to Edo with bullion vans. Stand firm
\nand do not sell your votes.<\/p>\n

“I appeal to INEC to conduct a free and fair election. There should not
\nbe intimidation of the electorate.<\/p>\n

“Stay at your polling units.\u00a0 Ensure your votes are counted. Vote for
\ncontinuity,” he stated.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Chairman of South-South Governors’ Forum and Governor
\nof Delta State, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said nobody can cheat the PDP of
\nits votes because it is a majority party in Edo State.<\/p>\n

” We are not afraid.\u00a0 Nobody will change the results or cheat us on
\nSaturday.<\/p>\n

“You have done extensive campaign, from ward to ward. Pick your PVC on
\nSaturday, go to your polling units and cast your votes for PDP,” he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

Former Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Peter Obi also spoke and
\nurged the Edo electorate not to vote the APC candidate for the sake of
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n

According to him,\u00a0 we want Nigeria to be good and people like Obaseki
\nare trusted.<\/p>\n

The mega rally was also attended by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye
\nDiri, and his Akwa-Ibom State counterpart, Emmanuel Udom.<\/p>\n

Also in attendance were the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru
\nFintiri, his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu, the Oyo State
\nGovernor, Seyi Makinde, and the Cross River State Governor, Professor
\nBenedict Ayade.<\/p>\n

Other dignitaries that accompanied the Rivers State Governor were the
\nFormer Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, Former Deputy
\nSpeaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara and the
\nFormer Minister of Transport, Chief Abiye Sekibo.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
