From the distant lands across the Atlantic, a host of North Americans with Nigerian descent simmer with shock as the emerging creature and impressions of insecurity rears its face on every community within Nigeria. We watch in awe as government tries unwittingly to curb the escalation of crime and in some region full blown conflict, as efforts are made to restore sanity to the Nigerian state.<\/div>\n

However, though a lot has been done by the joint security agencies in fighting this scourge, the seaming ability to effectively make the government onslaught on crime and conflict successful has abated for\u00a0over\u00a0a decade,\u00a0which brings to my thoughts why the skill and know-how that churns out of an intelligence driven process\u00a0has\u00a0not\u00a0been\u00a0deployed for use in today\u2019s Nigeria.<\/p>\n

I recall the years of IGP Solomon Arase (RTD) where two strategic and intelligence\u00a0arms\u00a0of the\u00a0Nigerian\u00a0police force were birthed\u00a0by him. This\u00a0seasoned lawyer and\u00a0retired police officer created the IGP-IRT and the STS\u00a0which both served as professional arms\u00a0of internal national security with\u00a0100% emphasis on intelligence and tactical ops. These twin creation of IGP Solomon Arase RTD,\u00a0revolutionized\u00a0security in Nigeria with enormous feats attributed to both teams\u00a0accompanied with increased safety and\u00a0appreciations\u00a0from Nigerians of all walk of life. Like the good saying goes, a\u00a0good feat outlives the originator. As evident\u00a0in\u00a0this case of Mr. Arase who after his retirement,\u00a0has seen\u00a0these\u00a0twin\u00a0creations\u00a0continue to\u00a0disseminatecrime and increase the platform\u00a0for\u00a0national security and safety throughout the length and breath of the Nigerian state.<\/p>\n

Recent happenings\u00a0classified\u00a0by an\u00a0upsurge\u00a0in\u00a0crime\u00a0and near total\u00a0conflicts\u00a0in some regions in Nigeria are partly fuelled by\u00a0dwindling economy,\u00a0rising unemployment, porous borders and\u00a0the not talked about delicate issue of massive population increase. These factors sadly have turned out a curse with the level of insecurity thawing through\u00a0the very fabric of the Nigerian society with Nigerians fearing daily for the worst.<\/p>\n

Which\u00a0brings\u00a0me to this\u00a0inevitable opinion why the services of an intelligence expert and\u00a0tactical\u00a0ops Guru has still not\u00a0beensought through service in today\u2019s government,\u00a0in other to mitigate and stop the rising insecurity\u00a0plaquing\u00a0Nigeria. I am\u00a0optimistic, despite being retired from the Nigerian Police Force and\u00a0today\u00a0an elder statesman\u00a0of enviable pedigree and\u00a0stainless repute,\u00a0Mr. Solomon Arase\u00a0should be sought after in other to harness\u00a0the needed prowess, skill and experience towards deploying an intelligence driven\u00a0holistic approach and ending the insecurity or\u00a0at least reducing its impact\u00a0to a minimal levelin Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Nothing would do the ruling APC good and\u00a0uplift the collective safety and trust of the Nigerian people, other than seeking the path of reason and engaging the\u00a0distinguished services of this highly intelligence driven super-cop, in other to change the security fortunes of the country.\u00a0Hopefully, the Federal Government will hearken and seek his attention and service.<\/p>\n
