Rivers State Governor,\u00a0 Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says his predecessor, Rotimi<\/div>\n

Amaechi was more interested in awarding political projects to boost his
\npersonal ego than delivering services to Rivers people.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said that a project like Justice Karibi Whyte Hospital was
\na scam because it gulped $39.9 Million on paper as there is nothing to
\nshow at the proposed site.<\/p>\n

According to him, the sum of N65 billion was spent on the 1.2 kilometers
\nMonorail Project which were conceived as a white elephant project.<\/p>\n

He said most of such political projects existed either on the pages of
\nNewspapers or were used to settle political allies.<\/p>\n

The Governor said that Amaechi and his political allies after siphoning
\nhuge sums of money from the State left behind uncompleted projects.<\/p>\n

“Amaechi does not have the moral ground to talk about development in the
\nState when he wasted so many financial resources on non-existing
\nprojects.<\/p>\n

“Go round the State,\u00a0 you will never see anything that looks like
\nJustice Karibi -Whyte Hospital. It is a scam that never existed.<\/p>\n

“Again, tell me what is the traffic along Azikwe Road that a 1.2
\nkilometers Monorail Project will be awarded for over 65 Billion Naira.<\/p>\n

“When I came into office,\u00a0 I was told that it will cost about 30 Billion
\nNaira to complete that project. If I have such money,\u00a0 I will build more
\ninfrastructure across the State.<\/p>\n

“His Economic Advisory Council led by Prof. Nimi Briggs published a
\ndocument. The records covered the activities of his administration from
\n2007 to 2014.<\/p>\n

“On education, the council recorded that 485 primary schools were
\nproposed for construction. Some existing old schools were demolished
\nwhen they required rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

“Work actually started on 478 schools but only 116 schools were
\ncompleted across the State. Amaechi also awarded 15 Modern Secondary
\nSchools for 15 Local Government Areas at over Four Billion Naira each.
\nOnly the Ambassador Nne Krukrubo School in Eleme Local Government was
\ncompleted and functional before he left office”, he stated.<\/p>\n

The Governor noted that Amaechi was a self-seeking leader who paraded
\nhimself as one that knows it all.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said there are foremost schools that had produced
\nprominent Nigerians in the State that should have been rehabilitated but
\nhe abandoned them to embark on the abandoned projects.<\/p>\n

He stated that unlike Amaechi that kills dreams and projects of other
\npeople,\u00a0 he voted money to complete road projects his predecessor
\ninitiated.<\/p>\n

The Governor also berated Amaechi for saying that there is insecurity in
\nRivers State when he is the one who determines heads of security
\nagencies that should be posted to the State.<\/p>\n

“Rivers State is safer than any other State. See what is happening in
\nBornu, Kaduna, and Plateau States where bandits have taken over their
\nareas.<\/p>\n

“When Amaechi was Governor, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC was chased away
\nbecause of insecurity. But they are here now, constructing roads all
\nover the state without fear.<\/p>\n

“Amaechi’s hometown, Ubima is a place you have a large number of
\ncultists that he uses. The heads of security agencies he influences
\ntheir postings, come here and see the reality on the ground that the
\nState is safe,” he added.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
