With three days to the Ondo Gubernatorial Election, slated to hold on
\nSaturday, 10th October 2020, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A.
\nAdamu, NPM, mni has for the umpteenth time, warned politicians against
\nactions and utterances that could be inimical to a free, fair and
\ncredible election, a statement signed by Force Spokesman, DCP Frank Mba,
\nhas said.<\/p>\n
Specifically, the IGP warns that the full weight of the law will be
\nmeted out to anyone, no matter their status in society, who engages in
\nany electoral fraud such as political violence, vote-buying, ballot box
\nsnatching, hate speeches, and all other unwholesome practices capable of
\nundermining the peace and stability of the electoral process.<\/p>\n
Similarly, the IGP has charged all Police Officers and other law
\nenforcement agents deployed for the election to act in accordance with
\nthe Electoral Act and other extant laws guiding their overall conduct
\nbefore, during, and after the elections.<\/p>\n
He warns that Police Officers and officers of other law enforcement
\nagencies found acting contrary to their oaths of office or in aid of
\nillicit electoral practices will be strictly and personally held liable
\nwith dire legal consequences.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the IGP has reassured the people of Ondo State that adequate
\nsecurity measures have been emplaced to ensure their safety throughout
\nthe period of the gubernatorial election and beyond.<\/p>\n
He reiterates that there have been adequate deployments in terms of
\nmanpower, marine and aerial surveillance, and other assets of the force
\nto ensure effective security coverage.<\/p>\n
He, therefore, enjoins all eligible voters to come out en mass to freely
\nand peacefully exercise their franchise in line with their civic
\nobligation, without any fear of intimidation on the day of the election.<\/p>\n
