{"id":76367,"date":"2020-10-16T20:18:35","date_gmt":"2020-10-16T19:18:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=76367"},"modified":"2020-10-16T20:18:35","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T19:18:35","slug":"endsars-protesters-denied-access-into-awkuzu-sars-premises-by-armed-police-men","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/endsars-protesters-denied-access-into-awkuzu-sars-premises-by-armed-police-men\/","title":{"rendered":"#EndSARS: Protesters denied access into Awkuzu SARS premises by armed police men"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m#msg-f:1680733654822459271\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">Attempts by thousands of youths who on Friday marched to the Anambra state\u00a0 headquarters of the recently disbanded police arm, SARS and insisted on searching the compound was resisted.<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nIt was gathered that the youths\u2019 insistence followed the belief that some suspects were usually killed and buried inside the compound housing the SARS offices.<\/p>\n<p>One of the protesters who spoke on condition of anonymity said, \u201cWe gathered that they usually bury some killed suspects inside their compound. We want to exhume their bodies so that their loved ones would know that they are dead and give them burials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, attempts by the protesters to access the compound was rebuffed by armed security men, resulting in an argument.<\/p>\n<p>The angry protesters were irked by the refusal of the policemen to grant them access and resorted to blocking the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.<\/p>\n<p>Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed who reacted on the incident, said the former SARS compound has been turned into an annexe of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is now CID Annex. They (suspects) held in the centre are being profiled and investigated to ascertain the allegations levelled against them.
