United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, on Friday in Lagos, committed to
\ndelivering superior and innovative banking solutions to its over 20
\nmillion customers around the 20 African countries where it was present<\/p>\n
The bank unveiled some products that would drive its retail banking
\nbusiness as well as aid customers and non-customers to perform unlimited
\ntransactions in Nigeria and Africa.<\/p>\n
The Group Head, Retail Liabilities of UBA, Mrs Ogechi Altriade, spoke on
\nthe products at a virtual media parley, with journalists participating
\nacross Nigeria and Africa.<\/p>\n
She said that the bank had come up with a \u201ckiddies products and
\nproposition\u201d that would support parents to save toward their children\u2019s
\neducation.<\/p>\n
Altriade said the bank also supported the kiddies through scholarships
\nand periodically allowed parents to participate in the scholarship
\ndraws.<\/p>\n
This, according to her, is a way of helping them see their children
\nthrough school.<\/p>\n
She said that the bank had come up with a product, \u201cFace of our Next
\nGen\u201d proposition, with Wizkid as a role model and an ambassador.<\/p>\n
This is to bring forth vibrant youth to embrace the proposition.<\/p>\n
Altriade said that the UBA retail banking businesses also catered for
\nthe \u201cMass Market\u201d segment, where it had its largest population of
\npeople.<\/p>\n
The mass-market segment is majorly targeted at average and low earners<\/p>\n
According to her, the bank has also come up with a segment for SMEs
\nknown as \u201cSME Banking \u201d.<\/p>\n
She said that this product does not just cater to individuals but Micro
\nSmall and Medium Enterprises.<\/p>\n
The bank offers financial and non-financial services to them, she said.<\/p>\n
Altriade said that the bank\u2019s retail banking also catered for people in
\nthe Diaspora.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have UBA connect products that give you access to all the countries
\nwhere UBA is present.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also have our Africash products where customers and non-customers
\ncan have access to it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She also said the UBA Agency Banking segment was designed to bring the
\nunderbanked and unbanked into the system.<\/p>\n
She said:\u201d with UBA Agency banking, they are able to leverage on the
\nplatform to reach out to people in the remote areas\u201d.<\/p>\n
Altriade listed some innovations that the bank had used to drive its
\nretail banking.<\/p>\n
She cited Mobile Banking solutions, USSD Banking, Leo Chat Box, UBA
