The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has announced the decision of the
\nFederal Government to resume international operations from Kano,
\nPort-Harcourt and Enugu Airports before Christmas celebrations.<\/p>\n
Sirika confirmed the development in a statement issued by Mr James
\nOdaudu, the ministry\u2019s Director, Public Affairs, in Lagos on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll international airports in the country may resume international
\nflights before the end of the year, as the ministry is working with the
\nFederal Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ministry is also working with the Presidential Task Force on
\nCOVID-19 and other relevant bodies to ensure that the airports meet all
\nthe safety and health requirements and protocols.<\/p>\n
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the international airports
\nthat are yet to be cleared to resume operations are the Port Harcourt
\nairport, the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, and the Akanu Ibiam
\nInternational Airport Enugu.<\/p>\n
Sirika said that all hands are on deck to ensure that all logistic and
\npolicy necessities would be put in place to address the difficulties
\nencountered by international travelers, especially with the impending
\nyuletide season.<\/p>\n
The minister expressed satisfaction over the understanding and
\ncooperation of aviation stakeholders in ensuring the smooth reopening of
\nthe nation\u2019s airspace.<\/p>\n
In a related development, Sirika said the federal government had lifted
\nthe flight ban on Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France.<\/p>\n
He said this development had paved the way for them to resume their
\noperations in and out of the country.<\/p>\n
The minister added that Qatar Airways had also been granted approval to
\nstart operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis follows the approval of their respective flight plans and
\nschedules submitted to the Ministry.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn granting the approvals, the ministry has emphasised the need for
\nairlines operating in the country to employ international best practices
\nin handling Nigerian passengers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is because the government will not tolerate any form of
