\nAdeola Adedipe, the lawyer representing Abdulrasheed Maina, former
\nChairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, has applied to
\nwithdraw his representation from all corruption charges against his
\nclient.<\/p>\n

Adedipe, who is representing Maina\u2019s company \u2013 Common Input Property and
\nInvestment Ltd, told a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday that he
\nwas withdrawing over his client\u2019s failure to pay him.<\/p>\n

The lawyer apologised to the court for being absent from proceedings
\nduring some of the recent adjournments.<\/p>\n

Ruling, Justice Okon Abang, who on the previous day held that by being
\nabsent in court Adedipe had abandoned proceedings, noted that the notice
\nthe lawyer claimed to have filed was not in the court\u2019s file.<\/p>\n

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Maina for
\nalleged money laundering to the tune of N2bn.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Justice Abang remanded Ali Ndume, Senator from Borno State,
\nwho stood as Maina\u2019s surety when he was granted bail in November 2019.<\/p>\n

He ordered that Ndume be held in Kuje prison until he produces the
\ndefendant or sells his N500m worth of property in Abuja, which was used
\nas the guarantee for the bail bond.<\/p>\n

The judge had also revoked Maina\u2019s bail and ordered his arrest.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
