\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 A Pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing, the
\nOhanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has decried what it described as a plot to
\nimpose a candidate as the new President General of apex Igbo
\norganisation.<\/p>\n

National President of the group, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka who spoke
\nin Enugu, said the plot to rig the Ohanaeze Ndigbo election has
\nmanifested, following the presentation of Amb. George Obiaozor as a
\nconsensus candidate by a group of Imo elders recently to Gov. Hope
\nUzodinma.<\/p>\n

He alleged that Amb. Obiozor had already been chosen by the Imo State
\ngovernor, who was hiding under the elders to present his anointed
\ncandidate.<\/p>\n

Igboayaka decried what he described as an undemocratic intrusion into
\n“the election process by Southeast governors and cliques of elders who
\nare hiding under the shade of Elders Council while their real motives
\nare to truncate the Ohanaezec democratic process for their political
\ninterest and selfish reasons”.<\/p>\n

He frayed Southeast governors to steer clear in the forthcoming
\nOhanaezec electoral process.<\/p>\n

“We resolved that the constituting of the electoral committee which
\nempowered each governor in the Southeast to recommend two persons is
\nunacceptable to Ndigbo,” he said.<\/p>\n

He described the electoral committee of governors’ recommendation and
\nthe decision of the constituted Imo State Elders Council led by Engr.
\nEmmanuel Iwuanyanwu as null and void.<\/p>\n

He stressed that every decision that did not meet the general interest
\nof over 70 million Igbos is unacceptable.<\/p>\n

Igboayaka advised the Iwuanyanwu-led Imo Elders Council not to engage in
\nwhat is individualistic and ill-motivated political interest over the
\nelection that is tantamount to breaching peace in Ohanaeze and in
\nIgboland at large.<\/p>\n

“We resolved that all the presidential candidates from Imo state should
\nget into the election ring where their fate, popularity and credibility
\nwill be determined by a purely democratic process.<\/p>\n

“There is no consensus presidential candidate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Imo
\nState for now,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, any breach of the constitutional framework in the
\nprocess of the election shall be massively rejected by over 30 million
\nIgbo youths and Ndigbo in general.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
