{"id":77141,"date":"2020-12-03T19:35:02","date_gmt":"2020-12-03T18:35:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=77141"},"modified":"2020-12-03T19:35:02","modified_gmt":"2020-12-03T18:35:02","slug":"maina-bought-2m-property-in-abuja-dubai-us-others-witness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/maina-bought-2m-property-in-abuja-dubai-us-others-witness\/","title":{"rendered":"Maina Bought $2m Property in Abuja, Dubai, US, Others\u00a0&#8211; Witness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-NG\">The trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman, Pension Reform Task Team, (PRTT) continued on Thursday, December 3, 2020, with the prosecution witness nine (PW9), Rouqayyah Ibrahim, telling the Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Justice Okong Abang how Maina acquired properties in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, United States of America, and<\/span>\u00a0a<span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0$2million (Two Million USA Dollars), property in Jabi,\u00a0<\/span>Abuja<span lang=\"en-NG\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">The witness, who is an EFCC detective revealed that a prosecution witness, Adamu Modibbo, who testified to the EFCC regarding the said Jabi, Abuja property, allegedly died of Covid-19 after his statement to the Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">She also revealed that about 32 documents, hard discs and flash drives relating to properties linked to Maina and his family and details of some of his investments in Dubai and in the US were recovered from him.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u201cParticularly in Dubai, investigation revealed that his company, Northrich Company owned over 50 cars that were used for transportation business and he owns a villa in a High Ground area in Dubai. His wife Laila Abdurrasheed also owns cleaning services, called Spotless and Flawless.\u00a0\u00a0We also recovered pay slips during our investigation,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">The witness also disclosed that investigation proved that another of Maina\u2019s company, Kangolo Dynamic does no business but that the defendant created a bank account for it in which\u00a0\u00a0his name did not appear anywhere on the account documentation even though he was in control of all the deposits in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">She also told the court that investigation showed that Colster Logistics, belonging to Maina had a Fidelity Bank dollar account which had an inflow of over $400,000, 00 (Four Hundred Thousand Dollars) from cash deposits as at the time the company was investigated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">She further told the court that over N500 million was discovered in the account of Kangolo Dyn<\/span>a<span lang=\"en-NG\">mic, within the years\u00a0<\/span>Maina<span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0was chairman, PRTT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">According to the witness, in the course of the investigation, letters were written to the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, to verify the authenticity of the driver\u2019s license used in opening some of the accounts; Code of Conduct Bureau ( CCB) for Maina\u2019s declared assets; Federal Civil Service Commission, Office of the H<\/span>ead of Service of the Federation (H<span lang=\"en-NG\">OSF<\/span>)<span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0and Accontant General of the Federation, (AGF), to confirm if Maina was still a civil servant and for his pay slips.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">Also written was the Federal Inland Revenue Service<\/span>,FIRS,<span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0for the tax returns of his companies and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for the registration documentation of the companies and the<\/span>ir<span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0annual returns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-NG\">All the documents and written responses of the government agencies were tendered as exhibits with prosecution counsel, M.S.
