{"id":77198,"date":"2020-12-08T03:38:27","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T02:38:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=77198"},"modified":"2020-12-08T03:38:27","modified_gmt":"2020-12-08T02:38:27","slug":"i-wont-accept-apc-chairmanship-again-if-offered-says-oshiomhole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/i-wont-accept-apc-chairmanship-again-if-offered-says-oshiomhole\/","title":{"rendered":"I Won&#8217;t Accept APC Chairmanship Again If Offered, Says Oshiomhole"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m55859\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal  \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Oshiomhole, has dissociated himself from the new suit instituted by the<br \/>\nparty\u2019s former National Vice Chairman (South-South), Hilliard Eta,<br \/>\nchallenging the dissolution of the National Working Committee, which he<br \/>\nchaired.<\/p>\n<p>The former Edo State governor also said he wouldn\u2019t accept APC<br \/>\nchairmanship if offered again.<\/p>\n<p>This was contained in a statement titled, \u2018My Position Has Not Changed,\u2019<br \/>\nwhich he signed, on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part, \u201cIn reporting the legal action taken by a<br \/>\nmember of the dissolved National Working Committee of the APC, some<br \/>\nattributions have been made to the effect that the plaintiff is an \u2018ally<br \/>\nof Oshiomhole\u2019 or an \u201cassociate of Oshiomhole.\u201d The court documents are<br \/>\nclear on who is the plaintiff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, the 21-member NWC under my leadership<br \/>\nmainly worked cohesively and harmoniously. The only exceptions were<br \/>\nthose of the three members used by forces desperate to take control of<br \/>\nthe party. They contrived a crisis and abused the judicial process to<br \/>\nundermine the constitution and integrity of the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe majority of 18 members worked as a team and not as allies or<br \/>\nloyalists of anybody. When the National Executive Committee in its<br \/>\nwisdom dissolved the NWC, I immediately announced publicly that I<br \/>\naccepted the decision, regardless of its illegality or otherwise, as it<br \/>\naffected my position as national chairman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oshiomhole further explained that he announced his decision not to<br \/>\ncontest his removal from office for personal reasons, noting that some<br \/>\nof his colleagues in the dissolved NWC didn\u2019t share his views with<br \/>\nregards to his decision not to contest the dissolution in court.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, said, \u201cI can only accept responsibility for my own<br \/>\ndecision. Subsequently, I instructed my lawyers to withdraw the suits<br \/>\nchallenging my purported suspension from office by the proxies of those<br \/>\nbent on removing me as chairman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oshiomhole also stated, \u201cThat chapter of my political life is closed.<br \/>\nEven if another NEC decision or a court order reverses the dissolution,<br \/>\nwith utmost humility, I will decline to return as APC chairman.
