Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says Nigerians are earnestly<\/div>\n

waiting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take over power at the
\nfederal level in order to enshrine good governance.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike made the assertion at the inauguration of the 11.53
\nkilometers Agbonchai-Afam road,\u00a0 connecting Eleme and Oyigbo Local
\nGovernment Areas and performed by the former Senate Majority leader,
\nSenator Mohammed Ali Ndume on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The governor said Nigerians have\u00a0 increased their yearnings for good
\ngovernance, improved economy and developmental projects that PDP has
\ncontinued to provide in the states that it controls.<\/p>\n

He stated that the hope of Nigeria depends on the Peoples Democratic
\nParty.<\/p>\n

“Eleme people, I want to sincerely thank you for the support that you’ve
\ngiven to me and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Do not relent.
\nContinue because the hope of this country depends on PDP.<\/p>\n

He declared that the PDP is working in Rivers State and in other states
\nthat are controlled by PDP. He urged Senator Ndume and the APC to
\nrespect the wishes of Nigerians who are determined to return the PDP to
\npower in 2023 to provide them dividends of democracy.<\/p>\n

“To our special Guest of Honour (Ndume), he should not be angry because
\nwe are taking over from them. When they came, we didn’t fight, they took
\nover. Now, that Nigerians have decided to change them, let them also
\nhandover to us as quickly as possible without any fight.”<\/p>\n

The governor said he is satisfied to have fulfilled the campaign promise
\nhe made to Eleme people that he will reconstruct the once deplorable
\nEleme-Afam road. He said the completed road now serves as an alternative
\nroute to neighbouring states.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike, also stated that his administration has completely
\nrebuilt the Government Secondary School in Onne Town with the one in
\nEteo reaching finishing level.<\/p>\n

“Today, we are in Eleme commissioning Agbonchia (in Eleme)-Afam in
\nOyigbo Local Government Road. This road traverses two Local Government
\nAreas. Nobody will say that we have not come to Rivers East Senatorial
\nDistrict to do anything.<\/p>\n

“As I speak to you now, by the end of this month,\u00a0 we are coming back to
\nAlesa Secondary School and Ascension High School. Those schools will be
\nrebuild completely.<\/p>\n

“And because you gave me a good, reliable and trusted person who is my
\nCommissioner of Finance, there is this other road here that needs
\nattention, I will reconstruct it.”<\/p>\n

Former senate majority leader, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who
\ninaugurated the 11.53 kilometers long Eleme-Afam Road said he felt truly
\nhumbled to perform the task and be part of what Governor Wike is doing
\nin his state.<\/p>\n

Senator Ndume described governor Wike as a true nationalist who is an
\nimportant voice in national affairs across parties, and always stands
\nout as one who speaks the truth to power courageously.<\/p>\n

“Governor Wike is my very good friend, a trusted leader, a very honest
\nperson. One thing we have in common is that, as a leader,\u00a0 you must
\nstand out and speak the truth even if you’re alone and Wike is known for
\nthat.<\/p>\n

“There is new hope for the state and he is Wike. Now,\u00a0 Rivers is not
\nonly becoming a Garden City again but it is becoming a Golden City. May
\nGod continue to give you (Wike) the strength.<\/p>\n

“And from today,\u00a0 know that you’re a leader in this country. If you’re
\nnot a friend and a nationalist, I will not be here,\u00a0 Fayemi will not be
\nhere and many other APC Governors.<\/p>\n

“You’re one of the true Nigerians that I ever know.\u00a0 And if we have
\npeople like you that speaks the truth to power, Nigeria would have been
\nbetter off for all of us.”<\/p>\n

Speaking further,\u00a0 Senator Ndume commended Governor Wike for his feat in
\nthe fight against insecurity in Rivers State that has given the people
\nthe liberty to come out to participate in such event without fear.<\/p>\n

“You don’t know what you have until you lose it. What you’re doing here,
\nwe will never try it in Borno State. You can’t invite people like this
\nand everybody, comfortably, listening to somebody speaking without
\nlooking around. So, we have to thank God.<\/p>\n

“Honestly, let me say here that Nigeria is lucky to have not only Rivers
\nState but Rivers people. South-South, particularly Rivers people are the
\ngreat people of Nigeria. What you’re giving to this country; if Rivers
\nis not there, Nigeria will not be there.”<\/p>\n

Rivers State Commissioner of Works, Elloka Tasie-Amadi,\u00a0 said prior to
\nthis time the road was a nightmare replete with all the negatives that
\nderive from such a situation. But, today it is something that brings joy
\nand with it, the obvious tangible and psychological benefits that come
\nwith any good transportation access to any location or locality.<\/p>\n

“This is an 11.53km long road project, 8.5m wide with 7km of drainage.
\nIt connects Eleme in Eleme LGA to Afam in Oyigbo LGA, a very good and
\nuseful road in the movement of farm produce and pursuit of local trade.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
