Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has counselled members of All<\/div>\n
\n
Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to discard politics of
\nbitterness that often make them to frustrate development projects
\nattracted by others to their communities.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike gave the counsel during the inauguration of the
\nRumuche\/Rumuakunde\/Ohna Awuse Link Road in Emohua Local Government Area,
\nperformed by the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha
\non Monday.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0 said politics is a game of interest and future looking politicians
\nlike him are not vindictive in nature, but pursue the interest that will
\nenhance the overall socioeconomic life of communities and individuals
\nthat have supported the party.<\/p>\n

The governor challenged Senator Andrew Uchendu of the APC to show what
\nhe has achieved for his community while a member of both the House of
\nRepresentatives and Senate.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike announced the immediate award of contract for the
\nreconstruction of the Mgbuitawo Road in Senator Andrew Uchendu’s
\ncommunity to serve as a proof that he is a liberal politician.<\/p>\n

“I am different, so, I will do the Mgbuitawo Road immediately. I am
\ngoing to do it because I am not a vindictive politician. If I am a
\nvindictive politician, that road will not be done.\u00a0 Also, I want to tell
\nhim,\u00a0 there is no need to play politics with bitterness. Politics is a
\ngame, we will talk today\u00a0 and talk tomorrow. No permanent friend and
\nenemy but permanent interest. For Mgbuitawo Community people, Ohna
\nAwuse, and Emeka Woke do not hold anything against you. Therefore the
\nroad will be constructed.\u00a0 So, the Commissioner for Works is hereby
\ndirected to go and scoop the Mgbuitawo community road, and also go for
\nthe internal roads in Ogbakiri Town.”<\/p>\n

The governor also announced that\u00a0 streetlights will be installed on the
\njust inaugurated Rumuche\/Rumuakunde\/Ohna Awuse link Road and Isiodu Road
\nall in Emohua Local Government Area to further appreciate the support
\nthat they have given to him.<\/p>\n

“I came here, I told you that I will do this road,\u00a0 I give God the glory
\nthat I have done it using one of the best constructing firms in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Governor Wike clarified that bringing Senator Rochas
\nOkorocha, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress,\u00a0 to
\ninaugurate the road project does not mean that he is fraternising with
\nthe opposition party, but because they had been friends since his days
\nas council chairman.<\/p>\n

“But let me tell you what you may not understand. I don’t believe that
\nyou must only have friends in your own party. You must have to build
\nrelationship across boards but that doesn’t not mean that you’ll sell
\nyour party.<\/p>\n

Senator Okorocha has been my friend since I was Deputy National
\nPresident of ALGON down to when I became the President of ALGON.<\/p>\n

“He was a member of the PDP. He left us and said they are going to make
\nNigeria great. He is still there,\u00a0 I believe that in these two years
\nthat they have, they’ll make us to be that great. But as at today, we
\nare not great.”<\/p>\n

Inaugurating the road project,\u00a0 Senator Rochas Okorocha, who represents
\nImo West Senatorial District at the senate, said it is time for people
\nof like-minds who desire the best for Nigeria to stop complaining but
\ncome together to join force to make the country great.<\/p>\n

“In this dispensation, there are many bad people in APC, many bad people
\nin PDP. I think\u00a0 the good people of APC and good people of PDP must come
\ntogether for purpose of making Nigeria great. I could imagine where I
\njoin forces with Wike. Governor Wike, this is my hand of friendship. Let
\nus bring all like minds, all great people of Nigeria. Rather than
\ncomplaining , let us come together to make this country greater and
\ngreater as it should be.”<\/p>\n

According to him, Nigerians must embrace each other no matter the
\npolitical affiliation,\u00a0 and break the barriers that make it difficult to
\nwork together as Nigerians for the good of the country.<\/p>\n

“What brought me here today is not party. What brought me here today is
\nlove and friendship. I am not PDP, I am APC. But the time has come when
\nwe must break the jinx of party division and begin to embrace
\nbrotherhood and friendship and be able to state what is good and what is
\nbad. A bad man is a bad man, even if he is PDP or APC.”<\/p>\n

Senator Okorocha said Governor Wike is a courageous leader,\u00a0 who has
\nspoken truth to power, and continued to improve the lot of Rivers people
\nwith his project delivery mantra.<\/p>\n

Okorocha said political power is a trust which can only be justified
\nwhen used for the common good. He noted that, is obvious that the masses
\nof Nigerians are not asking for too much from their leaders other than
\nbasic necessities of life . according\u00a0 to him, leaders who are unable to
\nprovide basic amenities such as electricity, water and road must be
\nconsidered failed leaders.<\/p>\n

Commissioner for Works,\u00a0 Hon. Elloka Tasie-Amadi said the once
\ndeplorable Rumuche\/Rumuakunde\/Ohna Awuse Link Road has been
\nreconstructed into a desirable access. It is 7meter wide, ended the one
\nway entry problem into the community and will also serve as bypass to
\nKalabari people.<\/p>\n

In his speech,\u00a0 Ohna Sergent Awuse expressed his gratitude to governor
\nWike for ending the several years of unfulfilled promise by previous
\nadministration. According to him,\u00a0 it pays to have such a leader who
\nmeans well for the people.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
