Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma is confident that the All Progressives<\/div>\n
Congress (APC) will continue to be at the helm of affairs in the<\/div>\n
country, saying that Nigerians would vote for the ruling party again in<\/div>\n
the 2023 general elections.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels<\/div>\n
Television\u2019s Politics Today.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cGiving the activities and achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari as<\/div>\n
the President of Nigeria, there is no doubt that Nigerians would vote<\/div>\n
APC again,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t agree that after 2023 when President Muhammadu Buhari would no<\/div>\n
longer be the President of Nigeria that the APC would be weak, no. \u201c<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The governor also expressed hope that the party would emerge stronger<\/div>\n
after President Buhari\u2019s tenure elapses in two years\u2019 time.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He explained that the President being a committed APC member would<\/div>\n
deploy his resources to the party and his successor to ensure that the<\/div>\n
dividends of democracy are delivered to Nigerians.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to the Imo governor, many party faithful and non-APC members<\/div>\n
have begun trooping in their thousands to join their political fold.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
When asked for the political fortunes of the southeast in producing<\/div>\n
Nigeria\u2019s presidency in 2023, Uzodinma said it is achievable, adding it<\/div>\n
is the dream of every politician to attain the highest office of the<\/div>\n
land.<\/div>\n

Recalling that the late Head of State, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe called for a<\/div>\n
political alliance which he said led to the birth of the APC in 2014,<\/div>\n
the governor called for easterners to work hard to produce an Igbo<\/div>\n
President.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cLooking and discovering that the only way the southeast would be<\/div>\n
developed is if they become part and parcel of the national politics. He<\/div>\n
created the idea of the NPN\/NPP alliance, and our great Zik signed on<\/div>\n
that alliance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThrough that alliance, Ekwueme not only became the Vice President, that<\/div>\n
alliance earned Edwin Ume-Ezeoke the Speaker of the House of<\/div>\n
Representatives and created Mike Okoye the pioneer Minister of the FCT,\u201d<\/div>\n
he added.<\/div>\n

While noting that politics is about the people, Governor Uzodinma<\/div>\n
explained that the eastern region has realized that it cannot attract<\/div>\n
the necessary dividend of democracy if the Igbo people continue to<\/div>\n
alienate themselves from the national stage.<\/div>\n

He noted that although the APC is being controlled by the Federal<\/div>\n
Governor, the people need to identify with the party by joining the<\/div>\n
moving train.<\/div>\n

\u201cIt is for this reason that the southeast, we now decided to be part of<\/div>\n
the mainstream politics of Nigeria. We are committed, we have joined the<\/div>\n
APC the ruling party.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cIt is not about being President or not being President. Politics is<\/div>\n
about ideology, politics is about logic. If you want to be part and<\/div>\n
parcel of every meeting that we decide how a President would emerge in<\/div>\n
