Gov. Mai Mala-Buni of Yobe has commended the Federal government for<\/div>\n
\n

approving N8 billion for the construction of a dam in Damaturu to boost
\nwater supply, according to Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, his Director General,
\nPress and Media Affairs.<\/p>\n

In a statement, in Damaturu, Mala-Buni said\u00a0 that the project, approved
\nby the Federal Executive Council, on Wednesday, would tremendously
\ncontribute to solving water scarcity in Damaturu, the state capital and
\nits environs, as well as complement the state government\u2019s efforts of
\nfinding a lasting solution to the problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to specially appreciate president Muhammadu Buhari and the
\nfederal executive Council for considering and approving the completion
\nof this very important project that would touch the lives of our people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is another dividend of democracy extended to Yobe state by the
\nPresident Muhammadu administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to us because, Damaturu has, over the years, increased
\nin size and population, and is in need of a corresponding water supply.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe state government has continuously been making efforts to improve
\nwater supply across the state to meet the water needs of the people\u201d he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

Gov. Mala-Buni assured of the cooperation of the state government and
\npeople of the state in ensuring the successful completion of the
\nproject.<\/p>\n

The governor further said a committee on the rehabilitation of water
\nfacilities had been constituted and supported with a massive
\nintervention, which had improved water supply in all the major towns of
