The bond issuance which was fully subscribed given that total<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">investor interest and commitments in the bonds were N56.6 billion, adds<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">to the impressive portfolio of landmark transactions structured by the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">bank, and underscores its capacity to successfully execute debt capital<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">market transactions.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The transaction is a landmark achievement in the Nigerian domestic debt<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">market for being the largest corporate bonds ever issued by a Nigerian<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Bank including the deposit money banks and merchant banks etc.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">In December, the bank had announced plans to issue fixed income<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">securities with 10-year tenor to support the growth and development of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Retail Business as well as its<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">technology infrastructure. The bank conducted the debt issuance under<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">its registered N100 billion bond issuance programme.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The bonds are unsecured and subordinated, which will qualify as Tier II<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Capital in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Guidance Notes on<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Regulatory Capital for commercial banks in Nigeria.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Speaking on the significance and success of the bond issuance, Fidelity<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Bank Chairman, Mustapha Chike-Obi said that the bond issuance further<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">demonstrates our confidence in Nigeria&#8217;s debt market. &#8220;It also validates<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">the continued investor confidence in our corporate strategy and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">aspirations, strong corporate governance structure and solid and stable<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">executive management team with robust history of superior financial<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">performance and returns&#8221;, Obi explained.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">In her comments, Fidelity Bank CEO, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe noted that<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">proceeds from the transaction would be utilised to support growth in the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">issuer&#8217;s risk assets in SME and retail business as well as investments<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">in technology &amp; retail infrastructure. This, Onyeali-Ikpe added is in<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">line with the bank&#8217;s Tier I aspirations.\u00a0 According to her, our business<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">fundamentals have remained strong despite the challenging economic<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">environment occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic and the attendant<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">recession.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The successful bond issuance highlights the confidence in the Fidelity<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">brand, as well as our capability to expand our funding sources, and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">deliver innovative financial services to our esteemed customers&#8221;, she<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">added. The issue was assigned a rating of A- by Agusto, and A by Datapro<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">and will be listed on both the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and FMDQ<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Securities Exchange Limited.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Fidelity Bank is a full-fledged commercial bank operating in Nigeria,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">with over 5.7 million customers who are serviced across its 250 business<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">offices and various other digital banking channels.
