The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West has described the<\/div>\n
news of defection of former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator<\/div>\n
Iyiola Omisore and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel<\/div>\n
(OGD) to the All Progressives Congress (APC)\u00a0 as funny and laughable,<\/div>\n
saying “that will be the first time politicians in Nigeria will be<\/div>\n
decamping from APC to APC.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In a statement on Tuesday, by the PDP South-West Zonal Director of Media<\/div>\n
and Publicity,\u00a0 Lere Olayinka,\u00a0 the party said the duo of Daniel<\/div>\n
and Omisore had long defected to APC, adding that it was obvious that<\/div>\n
the APC has become so embarrassed with the refusal of well-meaning<\/div>\n
Nigerians to openly associate with the party in its membership<\/div>\n
registration and is now making up defections for public perception.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Olayinka said by the action of Otunba Gbenga Daniel few hours after the<\/div>\n
results of the 2019 presidential election was declared, it was<\/div>\n
obvious that he was among the double-agents who sold the PDP out during<\/div>\n
the election.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“To us in the South-West PDP,\u00a0 APC can keep celebrating defections from<\/div>\n
the party back to the party. The party can even tell Nigerians<\/div>\n
tomorrow that President Muhammadu Buhari has decamped to the APC, that<\/div>\n
won’t still change the fact that its government from federal to States<\/div>\n
have failed woefully.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“It is on record that Otunba Gbenga Daniel openly declared and worked<\/div>\n
for the APC in the 2019 governorship election in Ogun State. He did<\/div>\n
that less than 72 hours after the PDP lost the presidential election in<\/div>\n
which he was the campaign Director General.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Since 2019,\u00a0 his main men have been holding key appointments in the APC<\/div>\n
government of Governor Dapo Abiodun.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“As for Senator Omisore,\u00a0 even a five year old baby knows that he has<\/div>\n
been in APC since 2018 and he openly campaigned for APC during the<\/div>\n
2019 general elections.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“He was even appointed as Sub-Chairman of Finance Committee for the<\/div>\n
inauguration of President Buhari for a second term.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“So,\u00a0 which defection are they talking about again?\u00a0 Is it second wave<\/div>\n
of defection or revalidation of defection?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“It appears that either the APC is so desperate to continue with the<\/div>\n
deceit about its existence and acceptability in the minds of Nigerians<\/div>\n
or some people are looking for money or appointment against integrity,<\/div>\n
