An alleged victim of human trafficking, Frasanna Adejoke, on Monday
\nnarrated before a Federal High Court in Ibadan how she was lured to
\nLibya for prostitution.<\/p>\n
Adejoke, who was testifying in a case of human trafficking levelled
\nagainst her, claimed one Ayomide Philips deceived her to travel to Libya
\nfor a good job.<\/p>\n
She said she was taken to a prostitution joint by two people, including
\nPhilips, who is a defendant in the case, and her Libyan partner, called
\nAbora.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cIn February 2016, Philips told me that she could facilitate
\nmy successful immigration to Europe and make my living there.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe even took me to her mother who advised me to pay her daughter\u2019s
\ncharges promptly.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirstly, I paid Philips the N10,000 charge she requested from me and on
\nMay 1, 2016, we left Ibadan for Kano.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe travelled through Niger to Agadez, on and on we went until we got to
\nTripoli in Libya, where she introduced Abora, her Arab agent, to me.<\/p>\n
\u201cPhilips never gave me anything from all the money I made for working
\nbecause they usually give the money to her.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe also did not tell me why she took me to Libya and not Europe as she
\nearlier promised.<\/p>\n
\u201cThough Philips and Abora first took me to a place where I worked as a
\nhousehelp for three months and they gave her an equivalent of N180,000
\nas my wage.
\n\u201cI was, however, dismissed as a housemaid, when I stole some money
\nthere.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did so because Philips had advised me to steal anything I find
\nprecious to me and that such opportunities were rare.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the prostitution joint, Philips received an equivalent of N200,000
\nfrom them as my wage and so was the case at the other places where I
\nworked.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, I was deported on April 25, 2017, when the Libyan police
\nraided my prostitution joint,\u201d Adejoke told the court.<\/p>\n
Counsel to the National Agency for the Prohibition and Trafficking in
\nPersons, Mr S.A. Langyri, prayed for an adjournment to enable him
\npresent more facts in respect of the suit.
\nJustice Patricia Ajoku subsequently adjourned the case to March 23 for
