The leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State
\nof Biafra (MASSOB), Ralph Uwazurike, has warned that Igbos cannot afford
\nanother war.<\/p>\n
Uwazurike, who also founded the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), said
\nthis at a press conference in Owerri on Monday.
\nHe also cautioned the leader of the proscribed Independent People of
\nBiafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, against inciting Igbo youths against\u200b the
\nnation\u2019s security agencies.<\/p>\n
He warned youths in BIM to shun Kanu\u2019s agitation, describing the IPOB
\nleader as a \u201cnobody, who only wants to put them in harm\u2019s way\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose agitating for war know they can\u2019t defeat Nigeria but they\u200b want
\nto enrich themselves, so they have continued to deceive our youth.<\/p>\n
\u201cIgbo\u2019s cannot afford to go to another war with Nigeria and at no point
\nshould they be incited into hostilities with the rest of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cMobilising youths against their leaders and constituted authority is
\nwhat we should guard against because we cannot defeat Nigeria,\u201d
\nUwazurike said.<\/p>\n
He advised South East and South South governors to urgently checkmate
\nthe calls for war in their area and ensure the zones were not turned
\ninto crisis.<\/p>\n
Uwazurike applauded Gov. Hope Uzodimma for the way he handled the crisis
\nin Orlu and advised that Igbos should not attract negative attention to
\nthemselves.<\/p>\n
The MASSOB leader further advised the governors to take over the Eastern
\nSecurity Network to ensure the outfit was not deployed for mischievous
\npurpose.<\/p>\n
He further recommended that the network be trained and equipped and made
\nto work in synergy with the police and other security agencies.<\/p>\n
He encouraged Igbos who want to contest for the presidency in 2023 to
\nstart their consultations now, saying that they had the right to run for
\nthe nation\u2019s highest office. (NAN)<\/p>\n
