\u00a0 Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, says he doesn\u2019t drink at all, while reacting to a statement by Sen. Smart Adeyemi(APC-Kogi ) describing him as\u00a0a drunk.<\/p>\n

Adeyemi had during plenary on Feb. 23, described Ikpeazu as a drunkard and\u00a0champagne drinking man claiming that he had done no monumental
\nproject for his people.<\/p>\n

But Ikpeazu said at the launch of the\u00a0 autobiography of Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe (PDP-Abia) \u201cMade in Aba\u201d, in Abuja on Monday that he doesn\u2019t drink\u00a0at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cPermit me to say that I don\u2019t drink at all and I don\u2019t begrudge those who\u00a0drink.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn other places or countries that have lesser problems, their leaders discuss\u00a0issues of security, big issues of economic development,
\ninfrastructure development, they don\u2019t talk about what people do and what\u00a0they did not do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ikpeazu urged political leaders to serve as mentors to the younger generation, while holding political offices.<\/p>\n

The governor who was Special Guest at the event, said leaders must in the\u00a0course of leading, mentor youths who were the future leaders of the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us leaders, it is a calling. If you are called to lead, you are also\u00a0called to be a mentor to the young ones and what you say, how you
\ncarry yourself and the things you say and the times you say them, speak a\u00a0lot about how serious you are as a person.<\/p>\n

\u201cI share in the joy of this event because I understand the importance of history\u00a0of a people and a nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy that we are trying in Nigeria now to return history into the curriculum\u00a0of our secondary school system.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, if Abaribe fails to tell his story, by the time others tell the story, he will not be able to recognise himself anymore.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe caption points to something and that is the tenacity and never dying spirit that Aba exhumes, represents and reflects and that encapsulates the personality of distinguished Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe, \u201che said.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the former Senate President, Mr Anyim Pius Anyim, described\u00a0the author of the book as \u201ca colossus\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe controversy in the life of Abaribe started as deputy governor of Abia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I have to say that a public figure without controversy is notcomplete. \u201cThere must be a time you will challenge the status quo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere must be time you must take a stand that everybody will not be comfortable\u00a0with.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere must be a time you will stand out, whether people like it or not and\u00a0I think that would have dotted the history of Abaribe.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a history that is dotted with firm convictions or issues, whether the crowd goes the same way with him or against him, he will stand his ground, he will make his point, he will push his point and he will defend\u00a0his point, \u201che said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the author of the book, Abaribe said he desired a country where everyone\u00a0would be committed to the \u201cNigerian Project\u201d.<\/p>\n
