{"id":78964,"date":"2021-03-04T16:53:38","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T15:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=78964"},"modified":"2021-03-04T16:53:38","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T15:53:38","slug":"buhari-osinbajo-to-take-covid-19-vaccine-on-saturday-says-nphcda-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/buhari-osinbajo-to-take-covid-19-vaccine-on-saturday-says-nphcda-boss\/","title":{"rendered":"Buhari, Osinbajo To Take COVID-19  Vaccine On Saturday, Says NPHCDA Boss"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Agency, (NPHCDA) Dr. Faisal Shuaib has hinted that President Muhammadu<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will on Saturday be taking the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The NPHCDA boss disclosed this on Thursday during a briefing in Abuja.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">He said the COVID-19 vaccination will be launched on Friday at the<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">National Hospital, Abuja.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Also, the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, will<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">be vaccinated on Saturday to increase confidence in the vaccines and<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">overcome vaccine hesitancy.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">According to Dr. Faisal Shuaib, the actual time for the vaccination of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">the President and Vice President on Saturday will be communicated soon.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">He noted that members of the Federal Executive Council will be<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">vaccinated on Monday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">This comes barely 48 hours after Nigeria received its first batch of<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">COVID-19 vaccines.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The NAFDAC-approved Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines arrived at the Nnamdi<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around noon on Tuesday, via an<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Emirates airline.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Mustapha, had earlier said that Nigeria will receive its first tranche<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">of about 4 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">The Health Minister, Osagie Ehanire had also said that once the vaccines<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">arrive in the country, about 70% of the population is expected to be<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">inoculated within two years.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe have been told to open an account with Afreximbank under the African<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">Union; we have done that already successfully because we are going to<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">pay for that part of the vaccine. The COVAX vaccine is free, at no cost<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">to us, it is made from donations,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWe want to immunise about 60 to 70% of our population. If COVAX<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">immunises 20, then we have about 40 to 50 to immunise within the next<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">two years.
