Rivers States Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says despite attempts by
\nagents of the Federal Government to cripple his administration from the
\nonset, he has not disappointed Rivers’ people and the Peoples Democratic
\nParty (PDP) in the governance of the State.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike said he could walk around the entire Rivers State today
\nwithout security because his administration and the PDP have fulfilled
\ntheir promises to transform the State for the benefit of all.<\/p>\n
He made this assertion at the inauguration of the ultramodern Government
\nHouse clinic and Administrative Building in Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n
“I have not disappointed the people of Rivers State and I have not
\ndisappointed the party that gave me the privilege to contribute my own
\nquarter to the development of the State. But for politics, I don’t think
\nthere will be need for any Rivers man or woman to think of any other
\nparty.”<\/p>\n
The Rivers State governor explained that immediately he took over the
\nrealm of power in 2015, he was\u00a0 buffeted from all sides as the Federal
\nGovernment unleashed insidious forces whose primary objective was to
\ncripple his administration.<\/p>\n
Governor recalled how his election\u00a0 was nullified by the tribunal and
\nthe Court of Appeal. But through divine providence, the Supreme Court
\nupturned their verdict and reaffirmed him the winner of the 2015
\ngovernorship election.<\/p>\n
He also narrated how National Assembly and State\u00a0 House of Assembly
\nelections were also nullified and fresh election ordered, but
\nfortunately, the PDP still emerged victorious.<\/p>\n
“I know what we passed through in the hands of the ruling government. No
\nState government has been harassed like Rivers State government, not
\none, but I will never give up. I will continue to do what I think is for
\nthe best interest of the people of\u00a0 Rivers State because they gave me
\nthe privilege.”<\/p>\n
Governor Wike said when the State was faced with serious security
\nchallenge, he appealed to the Federal Government to deploy special force
\nto checkmate the activities of the criminals, but his entreaty was
\ndeliberately ignored.<\/p>\n
According to him, security in the State has been politicised as the
\nFederal Government has persistently deployed and redeployed
\nCommissioners of Police in Rivers State.<\/p>\n
“Since 2015, we have had about 15 Commissioners of Police, just to make
\nsure Rivers State does not move forward. But nobody is God.\u00a0 They go to
\ntheir ministers to choose Commissioner of Police for our State so that
\nwhat will happen? To come and make the State ungovernable? But God does
\nnot think so.”<\/p>\n
He explained that despite all these antics by Federal Government agents,
\nhe has remained undaunted even as a second term governor in the delivery
\nof democratic dividends to the people of the State.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike said the new Government House Clinic which is fully
\nequipped with state-of-the-art operating theatre, top anaesthesia
\nventilator, ICU Room, Endoscopy Suite, MRI Machines, Laboratory,
\nPharmacy and 24 hours ambulance service will serve elder statesmen,
\nGovernment House personnel, judges and legislators.<\/p>\n
He regretted that the yearning of Nigerians for better life, better
\neducation,\u00a0 health care system,\u00a0 basic infrastructure, have remained
\nillusive because of the insensitivity of the incumbent Federal
\ngovernment. He insisted that only the PDP can redeem Nigeria from the
\nbad governance that has characterised the ruling party.<\/p>\n
Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who inaugurated the
\nultra-modern Government House Clinic\/Administrative Building, lauded
\nGovernor Wike for investing in critical infrastructure such as
\nhealthcare\u00a0 which is very important in reduction of poverty.<\/p>\n
Senator Saraki said Governor Wike’s\u00a0 effort,\u00a0 actions and\u00a0 successes in
\ngovernance has clearly distinguished him as a ambassador of the PDP\u00a0 in
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n
“I believe\u00a0 that this centre (Clinic) is not only for the people of
\nRivers state, it is\u00a0 for the entire people of the country and for the
\nwhole African continent.”<\/p>\n
The Commissioner of Health, Professor Princewill Chike, said all the
\nequipment, monitors and desktops in the clinic\u00a0 are connected through a
\ncomputerized integrated system linking the Radiology with the Laboratory
\nand the Electronic Patient Records, that can be checked and managed
\non-site, but also remotely, anywhere in the world, using an authorized
\naccess.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Engineer Emeka Woke, said anyone who
\nvisited the Government House a year ago will be astounded by the
\ntransformation that has taken place within this short period. According
