Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket to the North will cause the
\nparty to win the\u00a0 2023 general election, he will support the decision.<\/p>\n

The governor has meanwhile ruled out the possibility of him supporting
\nany All Progressives Congress presidential candidate even if the person
\nis of Rivers State or Southern Nigerian extraction.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike shared this view during an interview with BBC Pigin at the
\nGovernment House, Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n

The Rivers state governor explained that the reason why the PDP has not
\ntaken a final decision on whether its presidential candidate for the
\n2023 general election should be from the North or South of the country
\nis because stakeholders are still strategizing the best options that
\nwill guarantee the party’s victory in the polls.<\/p>\n

He stated that PDP is keen to takeover the realm of power in 2023 and is
\nnot in a hurry to give the ruling All Progressives Congress\u00a0 (APC)\u00a0 a
\nglimpse of its strategy to wrest power from it in the next general
\nelection.<\/p>\n

“I am from Southern part of Nigeria. I will be happy if power returns to
\nthe South, but if PDP will win the 2023 presidential election by zoning
\nthe presidential ticket to the\u00a0 North, I will not be opposed to it”.<\/p>\n

The governor while reacting to question on whether he will support
\nformer President Goodluck Jonathan if the APC picks him as its
\npresidential candidate, declared that it was not in his nature to engage
\nin anti-party activity.<\/p>\n

“If President Jonathan is given the All Progressives Congress
\npresidential ticket, he knows that I\u00a0 will not support him. I will not
\nengage in anti-party. Even if he is from the South, I will not endorse
\nhim. What is paramount is my party’s interest.”<\/p>\n

Governor Wike affirmed that if President Jonathan secures PDP
\npresidential ticket, Rivers State will overwhelmingly support him.<\/p>\n

The governor declared nothing will make him defect from the PDP to the
\nAPC which he described as cancerous political party that is devoid of
\nany solution to the prevailing security and economic\u00a0 challenges facing
\nthe Nigerian State. According to him, the APC has ruined the Nigerian
\neconomy and only PDP can pull Nigeria out of the brink of socio-
\neconomic collapse.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike revealed that the decision concerning his political future
\nwill be taken by July 2022 when he must have completed all the projects
\nstarted by his administration.<\/p>\n

On the relationship with the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike
\nAmaechi, the governor said God had used him to\u00a0 enthrone the minister as
\ngovernor of Rivers State in 2007.<\/p>\n

“God used me to make Amaechi Governor of Rivers State. There is even a
\nvideo where he confessed during a church thanksgiving that after God, I
\nwas the person that made him governor.”<\/p>\n

The governor said he has never personally accused his predecessor of
\ncorruption, instead a judicial commission of inquiry\u00a0 in the State had
\nindicted the minister of misappropriation of the $308 Million realised
\nfrom the sales of the Rivers State assets.<\/p>\n

He also explained that the judicial commission also indicted the
\nAmaechi’s administration for wasting N54 Billion on the abandoned 1.4
\nkilometer monorail project. According to him, the minister had
\nchallenged his indictment in both Federal High Court and Court of
\nAppeal, and lost the case.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike said he has conscientiously made effort that developmental
\nprojects are equitably distributed in all the 23 Local Government Areas
\nof the State.\u00a0 Furthermore, he said his administration in its urban
\nrenewal drive is gradually restoring Port Harcourt to his Garden City
\nstatus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
