Zenith Bank Plc has emerged as the Best Bank in Nigeria in the Global
\nFinance Magazine\u2019s Best Banks Awards 2021, retaining the award for the
\nsecond successive year.<\/p>\n

The bank was among other banks from 35 countries in Africa recognised as
\nthe prestigious US magazine, Global Finance announced its 28th Annual
\nBest Bank Awards Winners in Africa.<\/p>\n

The editors of Global Finance made all selections after extensive
\nconsultations with corporate financial executives, bankers and banking
\nconsultants, and analysts worldwide. Global Finance considered factors
\nthat ranged from the quantitative objective to the informed subjective
\nin selecting these top banks. Objective criteria considered included:
\ngrowth in assets, profitability, geographic reach, strategic
\nrelationships, new business development and innovation in products.
\nSubjective criteria included the opinions of equity analysts, credit
\nrating analysts, banking consultants and others involved in the
\nindustry.<\/p>\n

Global Finance\u2019s \u201cBest Banks Awards\u201d are recognised amongst the world\u2019s
\nmost influential banking\/finance and corporate professionals as the most
\ncoveted and credible awards in the banking industry, with winners chosen
\nin 150 countries and territories across Africa, AsiaPacific, the
\nCaribbean, Central America, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, the
\nMiddle East, North America and Western Europe.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1987, Global Finance regularly selects the top performers
\namong banks and other financial services providers, and the awards have
\nbecome a trusted standard of excellence for the global financial
\ncommunity.<\/p>\n

According to Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of
\nGlobal Finance, \u201cthis year\u2019s evaluations are more important and valuable
\nthan at any point in their 28-year history, given the unprecedented
\neconomic conditions wrought by the global pandemic.\u201d In his words,
\n\u201cBanks are playing a key role in economic recovery around the world, and
\nas such, our Best Bank awards highlight the leaders in restoring growth
\nand mapping a way forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commenting on the recognition, the Group Managing Director\/Chief
\nExecutive of Zenith Bank, Mr, Ebenezer Onyeagwu said: \u201cThis award is a
\nstrong indication of our resilience despite a very excruciating
\nmacroeconomic environment exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic\u201d.\u00a0 He
\nadded that the award was made possible by the joint contributions of the
\nbank\u2019s key stakeholders \u2013 the Group Chairman, Jim Ovia, for his
\npioneering and foundational role in building the structures and laying
\nthe foundation for an enduring and very successful institution, the
\nBoard for the deep insights and outstanding leadership they provide, the
\nstaff for their commitment, doggedness, creativity and very outstanding
\ntalents as well as the Bank\u2019s teeming customers for their continued
\nsupport and loyalty.<\/p>\n

Zenith Bank has remained a clear leader in the Nigerian financial
\nservices industry, distinguishing itself through unique customer
\nexperience and sound financial indices. The bank is also the pioneer in
\nthe digital space with several firsts in deploying innovative products
\nand solutions that ensure convenience, speed and safety of transactions.<\/p>\n

As a testament to its resilience and market leadership, Zenith Bank
\nrecently announced an impressive result for the year ended December 31,
\n2020, with gross earnings rising by 5% to N696.5 billion and profit
\nbefore tax (PBT) growing 5% to N255.9 billion.<\/p>\n

Consistent with this superlative performance and in recognition of its
\ntrack record of exceptional performance, Zenith Bank was voted as Bank
\nof the Year (Nigeria) in The Banker\u2019s Bank of the Year Awards 2020, Best

\nMagazine \u201cTop 500 Banking Brands 2021\u201d and Number One Bank in Nigeria by
\nTier-1 Capital in the \u201c2020 Top 1000 World Banks\u201d Ranking published by
\nThe Banker Magazine. Similarly, the bank was recognised as Bank of the
\nDecade (People\u2019s Choice) at the ThisDay Awards 2020, Retail Bank of the
