{"id":79292,"date":"2021-03-24T20:43:34","date_gmt":"2021-03-24T19:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=79292"},"modified":"2021-03-24T20:43:34","modified_gmt":"2021-03-24T19:43:34","slug":"nddc-to-commission-residential-quarters-for-security-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/nddc-to-commission-residential-quarters-for-security-officers\/","title":{"rendered":"NDDC to Commission Residential Quarters for Security Officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\":11p\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":xc\" class=\"a3s aiL \">The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, says it will soon<br \/>\ncommission a 64-flats residential quarters and administrative block for<br \/>\nsecurity personnel in Rivers State.Speaking while inspecting the residential quarters built for senior<br \/>\nsecurity personnel, the NDDC Interim Administrator, Mr. Efiong Akwa,<br \/>\nstated that the project would add value to the living conditions of<br \/>\nsecurity officers posted to work in Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the NDDC was created for the purpose of intervening in the<br \/>\nlife of the people of the Niger Delta, stating that the project was a<br \/>\ndemonstration of the importance the Commission attached to security in<br \/>\nthe Niger Delta region.<\/p>\n<p>Akwa remarked: &#8220;We intervened in the housing sub-sector because we<br \/>\nrealized that when Federal public servants are transferred to Port<br \/>\nHarcourt as the regional headquarters of the South-South region, housing<br \/>\nwas usually an issue. Some persons transferred to Rivers State would ask<br \/>\nfor enhanced housing allowances. Some will even refuse to come and<br \/>\nbecause of that most of them were ineffective.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To address this challenge, NDDC decided to intervene by providing<br \/>\nhouses for senior security officers to ensure that they are more<br \/>\neffective in their duties to secure the environment, because if our<br \/>\nenvironment is not secure, there would be no investment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Akwa said that the completion of the project was another major<br \/>\nachievement of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, noting:<br \/>\n&#8220;When people say that NDDC is not working, you can see that it is not<br \/>\ntrue. The problem is that people don&#8217;t get to know about the numerous<br \/>\nprojects that the Commission is executing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The residential flats and administrative buildings have been completed<br \/>\nand would soon be commissioned. We will invite President Buhari to<br \/>\nperform another virtual commissioning in Rivers State.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The NDDC boss promised to clear all outstanding Interim Payment<br \/>\nCertificates, IPCs, to enable the contractors to put finishing touches<br \/>\nto the project. He thus gave the contractors three weeks to complete the<br \/>\nfinishing touches and hand over the project to the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;This investment is going to help in improving security in<br \/>\nRivers State, especially in the vicinity of the airport. It will surely<br \/>\nenhance the security of the Port Harcourt International Airport and it<br \/>\nwill also add value to the economic and social life in the area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the project, one of the contractors, Mr Stanley Aruah,<br \/>\nnoted that it was started in 2013 and was supposed to be completed in<br \/>\neight months.
