ASR Africa Initiative \u2013 the brainchild of Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder and
\nExecutive Chairman of BUA Group has provided a grant of One (1) billion
\nNaira to Ahmadu Bello University as part of its yearly $100million ASR
\nAfrica Fund for Social Development & Renewal. This One Billion Naira
\ngrant will go towards the provision of a Hostel and Department Building
\nas identified by the University today.<\/p>\n
African Industrialist and Philanthropist, Abdul Samad Rabiu, had on
\nMonday launched the ASR Africa Initiative for Education, Health and
\nSocial Development in Africa which focuses mainly on equipping
\nfacilities, researchers, healthcare practitioners and community-level
\nservice providers and also supporting the efforts of various Governments
\nin Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa in Education, Healthcare and Social
\nDevelopment.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a ceremony at the Ahmadu Bello University today, Abdul Samad
\nRabiu also named the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; University of
\nMaiduguri; University of Ilorin; University of Ibadan, and University of
\nBenin as other beneficiaries of One Billion Naira each in the first
\ncohort of the intervention grant.<\/p>\n
According to Rabiu who was represented by Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, he
\ncommended the Vice Chancellor for promptly identifying the projects that
\nneeded intervention. \u201cIn view of this and starting immediately, we
\nintend to be on ground to commence the project. We are hoping the other
\nfive universities can also quickly identify such projects with our team
\nto fast-track the project initiation.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is our belief at the ASR Africa Initiative that this support will go
\na long way in bridging the infrastructure deficit in education within
\nNigeria and other African Countries in our cohort. We are excited about
\nthe endless possibilities that lie ahead of Africa and because The Time
\nfor Nigeria and Africa is now, and business development is nothing
\nwithout citizens\u2019 development.\u201d \u201cOn behalf of the ASR Africa Initiative,
